Rasheed Wallace Tech-BS
Howard going fouless in 3rd-BS
Kendrick Perkins 5 fouls-BS
At one point Orlando 33FT to Celtics 11FT-BS
Pierce got hacked 3-4times-BS
4 to 5 3sec violation-BS

...............................

Celtics Choked in 4th Q is no question. But its demoralizing to keep a team close the way Refs did in 2nd and 3rd Q is total BS.

lol come on. Yes the refs sucked as usual, but the Magic outplayed us in the 4th quarter, and that's why they won.

I thought a spark for them was Dwight Howard. Our best Howard defender was in foul trouble because of bad foul calls by the refs. More Dwight attention meant more open looks for guys like Jason Williams and eventually Redick.

If it's between watching an NBA game or an NCAA game (except when it's the Celtics), I usually pick the NCAA game. The Refs don't become part of the show, certain players don't feel the right to argue every call, the game is called consistently... etc.

Even watching the Celtics when they win is frustrating because of the officiating. KG get's away with moving screens but Perk does not. Ray get's away with traveling but Tony does not. Rasheed and Perk feel the need to argue every call.

The NBA has a credibility problem. They can ignore it, or they can continue to lose fans.

Great post, Reggie, and this is exactly why I also prefer the NCAA game. You hardly ever see arguing with the refs from the players, and even when the coaches argue it is usually more civil.  TP for you.

As usual, 1/2 of the people blame the refs and only the refs, and the other 1/2 blame only the Celtics. Why you people feel the need to negate obviously true statements to maintain the illusion that your position at the far ends of the spectrum is beyond me.

The Celtics choked it away - they were up 14 with 11 minutes to go. This is true.

The Magic were heavily favored by the referees earlier in the game. Again, absolutely true. A 26 free throw disparity? Really?

Both arguments/points are valid, and they are not mutually exclusive. We must collectively realize that "TEH REFZ!!11!11!!@@!!" and "NO EXCUSES, BRO!!!!!" are both absurd positions to take. A middle ground is far more sensible.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

You're not wrong, but to be fair, the Magic average around 25 free throws a game.  The Celtics aren't built to go to the line as much as they do.

I just think the refs being biased is something the Celtics have to account for as a team.  Sometimes it goes our way, sometimes it goes theirs.  To be a great team we need to be able to find ways to win no matter whose way it goes.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

Agreed. There is going to be a facet of the game to improve in any game between any 2 teams. The thing about the refereeing is that we can't control it. It is just disturbing to see the things played out that Donaghy talked about. National tv games being kept close, refs treating players way differently, crazy foul disparities, etc.

The other disturbing part about the refs is that they can directly affect other parts of our game. We were in the penalty 1:45 into the 2nd quarter and 3 minutes into the 3rd quarter. This is when we would've pulled away. Perhaps it was the ticky tack fouls they called in the 2nd and 3rd quarters that led us to playing poor defense in the 4th? YES. To see them put up significantly more points in the 4th than any other quarter seems like a weird statistical anomaly.

Exactly, TP. By the time 4th Q starts, most people forget what happened earlier. What supposed to be a 20point lead is a single digit lead a big momentum shifter. Refs happened in 3rd Q. And Celtics choked at the end.
