You got it mmbaby. KG coming back healthy will fix alot of the problems we currently have. A nice deadline tade by Ainge, combined with good team health the rest of the season = championship to me. And yeah, I'm saying what if? Then what's our move. How do we make make the best of a reduced KG and try to squeeze one more ring out of this current big three...
Yes Housecall, that was my thinking, KG comes in and just lights it up off the bench, anchors a much improved second unit. Like the ultimate sixth man but...if things are going well, he may not have to play much, save his legs. Meanwhile, Sheed and Baby get in better shape and perhpas a great groove. Become more productive...KG more rested...for #18...
He can see what's needed from the bench and come in and provide it for the second unit.
Yes ssspence, exactly the idea, the real goal was if he will never be 100% again or he's just starting to break down...how can we sort of protect him from himself, limit him such that we maximize what he has left for these next three years.
Would having him play less by being our sixth man and having Baby/Sheed carry a bigger load consistently during the regular season result in a greater KG for the playoffs?
Maybe KG doesn't have three 82 game seasons and three 20 game playoff runs in him at this point with all the miles.
But does he have three 20 game playoff runs of ferocity left in him if he's not taking and 82 game beating of 3-35+ minutes a night each year after 15 years?
And finally Hobbs, yes, this is what I'm talking about. If KG is in fact now slightly compromised with a chronic injury until he retires, how do we find the happy medium for him to maximize what he has. Is it having other players carry more for 82 so he can be a beast for 20 in June and then rest over the summer?
Amyway, thanks for the comments, this is kind of the conversation I was tryign to get to with this post. I may not have worded it right initially but you guys lead me there...
