If this guy is available he would be a perfect fit off our bench.  Saw a rumor on Hoops Hype that he was available. Maybe the Nets need to cut more salary.

If Devin Harris was made available it would be for talent. Not expiring contracts.

The Celtics wouldn't have an opportunity to acquire him (outside of trading Rondo).

Edit: Oh, ESPN rumour says the same thing. Nets interested in coupling Harris with another asset (expiring contract) and trying to acquire a young All-Star caliber player in return.

Harris wouldn't want to come off the bench and we wouldn't want to pay someone $9M a year to back up Rondo.

We won't get him.  Period.  And that's probably a good thing.

But Harris/Battie/Boone for Jefferson/Gomes/Flynn works.

Interesting, I figured the Nets would try to build around Harris and Lopez, but maybe they're thinking they could land John Wall in the draft. Trading Harris for a high-caliber swingman wouldn't be a bad idea if they could get John Wall.

I think they figure there will be PGs out there to get.  Lot of the bad teams do have PGs that they likely will move if they win the lotto.

Harris got overrated once he was given carte blanche offensively but he's still a nice player on a good team and, I believe, fairly compensated.

That said, it's going to be a long time til the Nets are good again and Harris is 26, i.e. young but not young enough to wait through 3 years of nebulous rebuilding.

If they can land a top 10 draft pick for Harris, that might be in their best interest.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger
PF: Pau Gasol/Al Horford
C: Yao Ming/Tyson Chandler

That's probably true.  It wouldn't happen till after the draft lottery though...I doubt any team in the lottery would pass up a chance at winning John Wall.

And who would we trade to get him? If the Nets trade Harris, they could net a player like Jefferson or maybe even Granger.

They could have last year if they'd traded him by December or so. He's been a lot less impressive since then.

Yeah, I think his value is decidedly sub-All-Star right now.  Plus, you have to remember that this is a guard heavy league.  You couldn't really trade Devin Harris for a quasi-All-Star SF or big man, because those guys are a lot rarer than a PG who can score 20+ points a game.
