i'm thinking there will be a lot of moves befor the deadline. also thinking that the c's best opportunity to pick up a quality player is to use a smaller contract or two to facilitate a trade between other clubs.

think rasheed/atkins some years back.

so opening the floor to three way trades that help us this season.
anyone?
bueller...

it's really hard to put something like that together, because really w'ed just be trying to horn in on someone elses trade.

so youd almost have to not think of what we need but to think of potential deals thall be going on around the league and seeing if there would be problems matching salaries and the right talent.

i had a long day of work so i cant think of any moves that might go down with other teams right now, other than maybe us trying to weasel something out of like a chris bosh to houston deal.

The move I believe the Celtics should make if possible is to sign Tracy Mcgrady if the Rockets decide to buy him out. He'll be a perfect fit for this team.  ;)

A week or so ago, I mentioned a 3 way deal involving Boston, Utah, and Was.

Knowing Washington is willing to move everyone except Andray Blatche (could be wrong about that) and  Utah looking to make moves, and get under the cap, I came up with this trade, and it worked on espn trade machine, so it is possible, and I believe it is a fair and close to even, considering players involved.

The Trade was:
Boston would receive
  CJ Miles
  Dominic McGuire
(Ronnie Price) [the deal worked both w/ and w/o Ronnie Price involved[

Washington would receive:
  Kyle Korver
  Brian Scalabrine

Utah would recieve
 Mike James
 Tony Allen
  JR Giddens

I think this is a pretty fair deal on all sides:

From Washington's standpoint, they get rid of unused Mike James (something they've been trying to do since they got him) They get rid of barely used Dominic Mcguire.

They get back two expiring contracts in Korver and Scal. so they don't lose anything as far as getting back a worse contract. Plus with the Wizards trying to revamp thier roster and image,  Scal and Korver are as innocent looking as they come, and dont bring along any baggage.

(funny and sad how when team are looking to change their team image after some major altercation or incident, the team always adds more white players then the previous 3 seasons combined) {i.e, Indiana Pacers and Portland Trailblazer "JAILblazer" years]-go look up those rosters- (just an observation)

Utah gets rid of CJ Miles and Kyle Korver (and maybe Ronnie Price). Korver is kind of a shadow of himself and his trying to get back in game shape after missing the first part of the season due to injury. CJ Miles has two years on his contract, and is sometimes up and down as far as consistency, sometimes in the lineup, sometimes off bench, sometimes doesnt play at all.

Utah would get Tony Allen, Mike James, and Jr Giddens, all 3 players expire in the summer, so that would be a slight advantage in the contract "trade" (Cj expires in 2011). Mike James would give the Jazz add bench depth, as well as PG depth. Tony Allen might fit with the Jazz better, i dont know,  he would have to compete with Wes Matthews right now, so, that would be interesting. And JR Giddens, they would take him because of his contract of course. Overall the Jazz would get a little more flexibility in the summer with 3 players expiring

Boston would get rid of Tony Allen, Scal, and JR. I think its clear the C's need a deeper, younger more athletic bench, and with getting rid of Scal, we automatically get more athletic 10-fold.  Getting rid of Tony, the C's can cut their TO rate in half ( being sarcastic), and get rid of bonehead plays inconsistency and a player who has probably reached his ceiling as a Celtic (might do better in Phx or GS).

Boston would receive CJ Miles, Dominic McGuire, (and maybe Ronnie Price). Cj miles is a younger, less turnonver-prone, more offensively gifted, bigger version of Tony Allen, with a higher ceiling. (i believe he would thrive in a reserve role for the Celtics, b/c he wouldn't have to worry if he is starting or not every night, he would know he's coming off the bench, and could thrive in a role once he got comfortable). However Boston does take Miles 2 yr contract, instead of Tonys or Scals expiring. but the difference is Boston is a championship team that doesn't need large cap space in the summer to sign someone, because they will be contenders again in 2010-2011 anyway,(plus being in the east helps).

McGuire is a young athletic 6'9" F who is versatile, and can bring many intangibles to a bench. Also his contract expires in the summer.

Worked out well for the blazers though. and it's not just white guys....Brandon Roy, Martell Webster, welll it is mostly white guys I guess.

Haha yeah, but look at the roster before Roy and Martell.....during that 2 or 3 year window between the Jailblazer era and the Brandon Roy era.  That's when they got players like Steve Blake and Joel Pryzbilla, who are still there now.

Also, Raef Lafrentz, Dan Dickau, Matt Carroll, Richie Frahm, Viktor Kryapa

How about this match making proposal?

This trade works in trade machine. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yht7fsl

This trade involves Utah, Minesota, chicago and Boston. Boston receives Al Jefferson and Ramon session. Minnesota gets Boozer, John Salmons. Utah gets Rasheed, Kirk hinrich, J. Johnson and expiring contract of Scalabrine. Chicago gets Glen Davis, Kirilenko and Tony Allen.

Boston gains two quality players by removing their junk. Minnesota gets much needed wing player in John Salmons and Carlos Boozer to fill in for Al Jefferson. Chicago gets rid of longer contract of Hinrich and receives shorter contract of Kirilenko. They also get strong and young post player in Big Baby and an athletic slasher/defender in TA. Utah gets rid of huge contracts of Boozer and Kirilenko and gets Hinrich and Sheed's reasonable contract and some really valuable expiring contracts. Utah, now can start Milsap and have Sheed come off the bench. Hinrich and Deron Williams will make a strong back court too.
