Im set in stone, These are the 3  guys I want Danny to go after.

As a frequent Celtics-blogger, I have made numerous posts about my suggestions about who the C's should trade for or go after. I think its obvious the Celtics need a backup point guard, and another wing off the bench. I also, feel like the C's could really use an athletic big.

I have come to a consensus of the 3 guys I think the celtics could use. Its clear the C's need to add depth, and I think these 3 guys plus 1 alternate, will solve that issue, without disrupting or making major adjustments to the chemistry the C's currently have.

None of these guys are over the age of 29. I chose these 3 guys based off of who i believe are the Celtics tradable pieces (Scal, Tony, JR, Walker, Shelden).  All 3 of these guys are versatile and can play multiple positions.

Also, these guys wouldn't be surprised by the occasional DNP-CD. These guys aren't necessarily used to DNP's but they have experienced it at various points throughout their careers, so they would know how to handle that. Some guys in the L couldn't and wouldn't be able to handle that. None of these guys are big minute players, but they are and can be big impact players.

Bringing in these 3 guys would bring the versatility, depth, athleticism, and experience that the Celtics need and should be looking for.

With the contacts of players Scal, Tony, JR, Walker, Shelden, there are multiple combinations you could put together, in order to make these trades.

[The 3 guys I am set in stone with are
 Sign Sean Williams
Trade for Keyon Dooling ......................[$3.5 over 2 yrs.]
Trade for Sasha Pavlovic ......................[$1.5 over 1 yr]

alternate...........................Dominic McGuire

Keyon Dooling can play the 1 or 2
Sasha Pavlovic can play the 2 or 3
Sean Williams can play the 4 and 5 if you want to go small

Rondo/Dooling
Allen/House/Pavlovic/*
Pierce/Daniels/*
Garnett/Baby/S. Williams/*
Perk/Sheed

*=players who we dont end up trading out of (scal, TA, JR, Walker, SHelden)

I want Danny to go and get these guys, by the deadline

Keyon Dooling
Sasha Pavlovic
Sean Williams
     -----or Dominic McGuire

I like Keyon Dooling, but Sean Williams and Pavlovic are mega stiffs that can't crack the worst 2 rotations in the league.

Eddie House couldn't stay in a lot of rotations on the many teams he played for, for a long time. Thats why he kept bouncing around.

I think if Pavlovic and Sean Williams came to Boston the would be more productive.

Also, I wouldn't expect Sean Williams to be in the rotation anyway. He would bring versatility and give Doc Options with his bigs. If there are some games where we cant matchup with other teams athletic bigs,we have the OPTION of making an adjustment, by sticking Williams in the game to see if he works out better with his freakish athleticism.

Sean Williams is the dumbest player in the league, and would not get off the bench in Thibeult's system.

I have no problem with the other two guys.
"All I have to know is, he's my coach, and I follow his lead. He didn't have to say anything in here this week. We all knew what we had to do. He's a big part of our family, and we're like his extended family. And we did what good families do when one of their own is affected." - Teddy Bruschi

I like Sasha Pavlovic. He would be a decent second wing off the bench. A non-rotation regular who could backup Marquis Daniels. Good defender and a good jump shooter.

He has barely played in Minnesota this year, and has struggled with his shot when he has played, so I'm quite concerned about that. Not sure if I'm willing to give up anybody serviceable to get him. If Minnesota would take someone like JR Giddens (plus cash or second round picks maybe), then that's a trade I'd happily make.

No interest in Keyon Dooling or Sean Williams.

Last time I checked, Tony Allen isn't the brightest light  in the room, but he's still here.

you're remembering pavlovic and dooling of years past. dooling could be had after he's bought out at the deadline.

I know Dooling's not in his heyday. But if this is the case about (years past) which is somewhat true, I'm just following Danny's pattern.
Why did he go after and sign (Sam Cassell, PJ Brown, Mikki Moore, Stephon Marbury,Rasheed Wallace)??

Sasha and Keyon are much closer to their years past hey days than any of those guys were.
Now obviously the level and caliber of player are different for each player, but I dont think the fact that Keyon Dooling is not what he used to be is the big of a deal.

But if he's bought out then, of course you wouldn't trade for him.

Sasha is only 26, he's shown he can contribute on a winning team.

And what good would a guy you project to be a third string shooting guard be on this team?

I'm not sure any of these guys are that much of an upgrade in talent, and I would expect a dropoff in execution (more TO's, etc.) while they learn the system.  If it costs games in the interim, or we play a shorter rotation while they come up to speed, it could mean losing home court (which I hope is an) advantage in the playoffs.  So I'd call it a high risk/low reward deal that's being suggested.

While agreeing with the premise that we could use a backup PG and athletic wing, preferably one that can score, I'm not so sure we need another big, though.  And there are easier ways to go about this (ATTENTION, DOC!!!):

PG:  Lue might be suitable as insurance/short minutes (10mpg) for minimum money.

Wing:  Well...I'm sure there's a reason Doc doesn't play the guys that don't play, but if they might be needed in the playoffs...then Bill Walker needs to get some run, and not just in garbage time, like Doc does things now, or the D-League, against (and with) inferior players, but alongside the regulars.  They'll develop better skills, and also chemistry with the guys they'd be playing with.  (Disclaimer:  I do think Pavlovic is better than walker...)

Another idea, derived from that:  Bring Ray Allen off the bench.  (WAIT!  DON'T SHOOT!)

Rondo and Perk's emergence as offensive threats make the 1st line too loaded with offense (with KG...), or rather, the dropoff to the 2nd unit is too steep.  Start someone else, and let Ray lead the 2nd unit.  Besides, that's what he should be doing these (old) days, anyway (and for the next 2 years here in Boston).  Then, this summer, we can attract that young wing with the MLE and a starting job for a contender, which is a lot more attractive, eh?  And a younger, more athletic guy plays with the starters (and maybe wears down Joe Johnson, D-Wade, Kobe, et. al., or at least fouls the heck out of them and disrupts their rhythm to start the game.  Ray will play in the 4th, anyway.).

Bottom line:  no need to make trades just to do it, but changing the recipe with the current ingredients could add loft to the dish...  Imagine Ray against 2nd units...
