It sucks they win another, but Kobe didn't really do anything illegal there. Rodriguez was trying to follow the inbounder and ran into Kobe's screen (wasn't even looking). Spaniards are known to flop anyway. And even if it was an illegal pick they will never call that on the last possession like that whether it's Kobe or the worst rookie in the league.

You gotta admit the Kings just blew it. The refs wouldn't have sent them to the line to go up by 4 points if they were trying to hand the Lakers a win. Open your eyes. The league would make more money if the Lakers lose...do you realize how excited other teams fans get when they beat the defending champs? Ticket sales and general interest would go up, and if the Lakers lose a few random games here and there it has no impact on sales. None.

If you want horrible refereeing, go back to the 2008 finals where the C's got all the calls.

Hahahahahahahahhahahaha

all the validity to your post is wiped away by that last sentence. It proves that you are just as deluded as the rest of the people who think the refs decide the outcome. You're just on the wrong side of that coin, thinking the LAKERS got gipped (what a joke hahahaha)
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

As Paul Westphal so eloquently said in the post-game interview...."the NBA will see again how the Lakers have won."  Paul then said, "I wish we can get the knack the Lakers have."  A direct message to the NBA if I ever heard one.

NBA=Lakers+Cavaliers

I am so disillusioned with the NBA and its referees - I try not to be, but everytime I am almost over it, it keeps slapping me in the face!

I watched Westphal statements post-game and they didn't sound anything like that. He said similar things, but he wasn't suggesting what you're implying he was suggesting. He didn't even come close to blame the officiating for the loss of his team.

I thought the officiating was decent and the mistakes were more or less evenly distributed. In that last shot, there was a moving screen from Kobe, but Rodriguez should have known better than flopping, the refs never call moving screens in those moments. Had he hold his position and Kobe wouldn't have a wide open shot.

TP. So sad to see Laker Fans still grieving about that series.

And I try as hard as I can to not call Derrick Fisher's "Mugging" of Ray Allen in the closing secs of the Lakers Game in Boston Last year as such.

You win some, you lose some.

Well, the thing is Paul Westphal does not want to be hit with a $50,000 fine as he is the lowest paid coach in the league. Also, if you carefully think about the words he chooses and keep in mind Kobe's shot, it will make perfect sense.  Don't forget, Paul used to be the Lakers post-game analyst - he knows what he is saying when he mentions knack.

Also, I purposely listened to the Kings announcers after the game and one announcer (play-by-play guy) mentionned the referees said that Kobe's foot was above the line and that his heel was lifted and never actually made contact with the floor, so technically he was not on the line.  What a load of crap!   Instant replay shows that it is physically impossible for Kobe not to have have had his heel touch the floor because both legs were flexed downwards as he received the ball and at the same angle.  It is also impossible because he propelled himself into the air with both legs for the jump shot and did not use only his right leg.

Funny how no one mentions this in any of the ESPN telecasts.  You will only see it mentionned on Kings forumn boards.

you are delusional man. kings were sent to the line to go up by 4 on an even more questionable call than anything that happened in the last possession. there is no conspiracy. end of story. the lakers won...get over it like the rest of us.

westpaul and all the kings bench look down at kobe's feet and have zero reaction of him being out of bounds. watch the high def version.

As per the play-by-play announcer of the Kings, he said the referees knew Kobe's foot was above the sideline, however, his heel never actually touched the floor.  Now c'mon, let's call a spade a spade - it is impossible to push off your feet and elevate like Kobe did without having both heels touch the floor!  Simple physics!

You just can't admit there is a league bias with LA.

Also examine the previous game against the Kings a few nights earlier and it is so blatant the misofficiating that it would be unacceptable in my kids house league!!!

The Lakers get boned by the refs just as much as any other team.
Kobe doesn't get nearly the calls D-Wade and LeBron get.

When it comes to the Celtics they set so many illegal screens and push in the back on every rebound that if the refs called you guys by the book your guys would foul out by the 3rd quarter.

Celtics just push and shove and take the first 3 fouls, then the refs stop calling it cuz they don't want to look biased so you get away with all that crap in the 4th quarter.  Also, the refs have to even out the calls so they're calling Pau Gasol for touch fouls after taking a shot in the Chops from Perk.

Haha, DiscoFlux..I saw your last paragraph and had to comment. One of the Celtics Blog Moderators, IndeedProceed, had a nice article about the Celtics a few weeks ago. He coined the team: Junkyard Dogs.

JYD's are Tough, Mean, Physical and Ugly. They push teams around just by their nature. It's just who they are. Perk's scowls, Sheed's continual yelling and screaming, KG's sneers. Toss in Glen Davis throwing himself around down low, and sprinkle with a little Scal and Shelden and the Boston Celtics are just a tough team.

We pick up our share of techs and fouls, don't get me wrong. If you looked at our blog comments a couple of weeks ago, we were all hot about some techs that Sheed and the team had received.

LA's tough, too...with Artest and all.....

Look forward to us meeting in a few weeks...and in June. Will be a physical series.

Oh - and a Tommy Point just for the conversation - I really look forward to talking with LA fans. Both of our Teams haven't been this good at same time since the 80's. Makes my day.
