Yeah, I don't know about this. Turning down 100K in China for 19K in the DL just doesn't seem smart to me. Or he could have gone to a prep school or a community college to try to raise his grades.

This seems like it will only be significant if it starts a trend. This guy doesn't sound like a top draft pick.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

College is not for everyone.   It looks like he has found a way to persue his dream and I wish him the best.  It is better than playing street ball  and dreaming of being seen by a scout. It will give him a chance to mature, hopefully stay out of trouble and play with and against  good quality players in a controlled playing environment, where his talents can be seen by the right people.  While our own Lester Hudson is a role model and a feel good story, it is a story that doesn't happen often (and when it does people talk only of how "old" a rookie he is!
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift...

With 19K a year he's gonna have to do that now to not end up in debt.

I assume a lot of things are taken care of though.  If travel and hotel rooms and food during the season are, and you get a daily stipend of say 100 bucks (which I think they do) you're pretty set even if you only pull in 19k.  Basically you pay for clothes and maybe a summer sublet.

$100 per day is what NBA players get while they're travelling. D-Leaguers is around $30-$40. The salaries are very low - that's why the good players in the D-League don't stay around for more than 1/2 seasons: they either get a NBA contract or they leave for Europe or Asia.
