Yeah we can't depend on D White and Hauser to be our third offensive scoring threat. D White has regressed even more than last year and now you don't have JB, what's his excuse now?

Package 'em up and see what's out there.

im trading d white and m rob right now before trade deadline and seeing what we can get in return.
Well maybe we should see what we can get in return before we trade them  ;D

Robinson I HOPE is just out of shape and being asked to play a bit of a new role. Hes been so consistently the same dude for years now. To just forget how to rebound and defend the rim is baffling to me. Trading him seems kinda pointless. Dont see any world where you get someone that helps the team more this year and hes not gonna get a bunch of picks for you.

I do worry White is just done. Hes always gonna be this super high IQ guy who makes all the right reads on both sides of the ball, but he can't get by anybody, he can't shoot, he cant stay in front of anybody.

It would be fine if he was on some bargain bin contract but hes making 35 mil. Hes killing us right now.
I didn't like that pick swap we gave SA for him that deal and I really don't like it as I've seen his play degrade last year and even moreso this year

Yeah, the goal is winning a championship. That goal was accomplished and Derrick was a HUGE part of that.  That '24 title alone is worth the pick swap and I honestly think the pick swap won't be terribly drastic.

still bitter over that pick.  I absolutely hate the idea of giving up picks or swaps that far out.

I didn?t like the swap but there?s no question it was worth it.  And the swap is meaningless now as we have something good likely coming our way in 2028.

Nobody likes the pick swap, especially now that SAS is playing well.  BOS gave up Josh Richardson, Romeo Langford, a protected 2022 first-round draft pick (Blake Wesley), and the conditional right to swap 2028 first-round picks.  The pick swap is a small part of this.  This swap might result in us dropping a few spots late in the first round, maybe, but whatever is left for BOS, likely gets shipped out to PHI for the LAC pick.

It was a great trade for BOS, as it turned out.  Richardson fell off a cliff, Langford never developed, and the pick (#25 in 2022) turned out to be nothing.  The swap may not be anything much either.  This is truly a case where if Brad had walked away over a future pick swap, it would have been a bad decision (not like the false narrative that Brad walked away from Giannis over Hugo).

the supposition is that Boston and SA will be within just a few picks of each other for that draft.  I suspect it'll be a bigger gap than you're anticipating.  PG is playing well so far this year but I can't help but think next year will see him miss a quantity of games and have a decline in his game when he does play.  Unless Brad is able to make an end of season deal this year to move PG for a good young player to complement Tatum, I think PG's decline next year, in addition to White's, will drop the C's in the standings where the gap is significant with SAS.

The pick may still end up going to Philly as part of that PG transaction but there's a possibility we would still get to keep that pick depending on how Philly and the Clips finish and in that case, I'd really want to have our pick still in hand because the incoming pick won't be a good one if it's not a swap based on the convoluted conditions on it.

Who cares. If the best asset BY FAR you gave up for Derrick Whites entire prime is a pick swap that projects to be 5-10 spots in the back half of the first round that's a grand slam home run trade.

I do get generally being against moving far in the future firsts. But this one really worked out well for us. ALmost everything that could go wrong wrt that swap has gone wrong (Wemby picked by SAS, Tatum achilles, CBA forces us to trade Jaylen Brown) and it still projects to be pretty meaningless.

Plus in order to keep the pick the Clippers need to make the playoffs next year which feels pretty unlikely.

Well said.  Even if worst case, we end up swapping pick 20 for pick 30, what is the big deal?  I am not happy about having to do that, I would much rather keep the better pick, but it does not change the calculus of the trade very much and will probably not impact the talent level on the team very much, if at all.  It is time to make the final payment to the piper for a trade where we fleeced SAS.

I feel like the problem with DWhite is we having playing PG which I have no clue why. He thrived alongside Jrue.

We can never seen to just find or keep an actual PG on this team.

Sometimes you just have to give up value to get value back. Can't always be Trader Danny trading near washed-up old men for lottery picks  ;D We got value back by winning in 2024 and Derrick White was HUUUUGE that postseason run. I also liked that he willed us to a Game 7 in 2023 ECF after trailing a series 0-3.

Since we've already exhausted what's left of his value...it's time to send him somewhere else so we can get something back.

But when we had Jaylen Brown, White flourished as the #3 guy on the team. He was like our third-best scorer. He's back to that role now that Tatum is healthy and we have PG-13 who is our #2 guy.

And Brad needs to find someone who can true facilitate the ball...Pritchard is better off coming off the bench.
