I see J.R. Giddens got 5 minutes of play time tonight so far and it isn't even the end of the third yet... I am unable to watch the game, is he in there because of foul trouble or is the team doing a little showcasing of J.R. for trade purposes?

No they're not. I think Doc was trying something to respond to Nellie ball.

I think we are going to see more of JR in situations like that.  Doc wants to get Pierce and Ray a little more rest (especially with Pierce coming off the knee injury).  Teams like the C's do not showcase players.

I think Doc was giving him a chance to play meaningful minutes against a subpar team.  Makes sense, might as well take one or two real looks at the guy before deciding what to do with him.  The Warriors are a good fit for his game.

Anyone know where Bill Walker is tonight? I would have thought that he would have been getting some of J.R's minutes...but I haven't seen him on the bench and haven't heard of where he might be. Just hoping that he didn't have another setback with the knee.

He's been practicing for about a week.  He won't be dressing for a while, unless they have less than 12 other healthy guys.  He is going to have to get back into game shape, and then beat JR out in practice.  That takes time.

Oh yea....I figured that much, which is why I was kinda surprised to see him in a game last week. I think it was just garbage time, but it was still nice to see him on the floor. I knew he dressed last week which is why I was kinda nervous that he wasn't tonight. WHEW!! Here's to hoping he gets in game shape fast! I love the kid!!!

Yeah, he only dressed last week because Scal was out with back issues.  And he only played the last couple of minutes so they could get Wallace off the floor.  He was nowhere near ready.

Getting back into game shape may take time, but I doubt beating JR out in practice will.

I liked his drive in the second quarter.  Why don't they let him do that once in awhile?  He needs to learn to use his athleticism to finish above the rim, but he seems to have a very good first step.

Like Tommy said, I think he probably did some stuff right in practice and got rewarded. If Perk is right and everybody was practicing like crap, maybe Giddens was one of the few with a good practice and was rewarded. Remember, Doc has never been a coach who gives a young guy meaningful minutes unless they have earned them.
