I generally agree.  While we can speculate about how certain big trades could conceivably help us, I don't think we can risk screwing with what we have.  If everyone stays healthy, this could be an all time great team.

As for small moves, I wouldn't rule it out, but I feel like that if it happens it'll be more of a sign of Danny's ADD than an actual meaningful move.  I don't think he's dumb enough to trade anyone in the rotation.  And outside of trading a rotation player, what are we really going to get?

Could we get a player for TA and Giddens?  Sure.  But could that player actually crack our rotation?  Highly doubtful.

If that's the case, is it really worth making a deal?  At least with those two they know the plays.

Well I think this would be best.   For next season there could be trades, I'm just saying for the 2009-10 season this 15 should stay.

Our Top 10 isn't going to move.    Then you have TA & Scals. The reason why I would want to keep TA & Scals this year is because they have been there with this unit who won the title, they have veteran experience.  Anybody who we get for them isn't really going to be high quality.

Then you have the young guys, Lester, JR & Walker.  I would want to keep these guys because they are homegrown Celtics and we should give them a little time to blossom because they could be stars in the future.   Look at what happened with Chauncey, Joe Johnson & Bowen, we could have kept those guys.  Yes they bought us Kenny & Rodney & Delk who helped us in the 2001-02 run, but that was it, we didn't get back to the ECF until big boy Garnett arrived.

We already have 3 new faces and it is enough to create new chemistry and a new look to be better than we were the last two years.

When you talk about trading this guy, trading that guy during the season sometimes it affects personalities in the locker room or on the court and we really don't need that this year.    Everybody should stick together and realize all 15 of us are in it to win it this year and all 15 of us will be there at the end, I think that would make us the best we could possibly be.  Of course that is assuming everybody stays realatively healthy.

Plus I'd love to see the look on people's faces as time expires once again on the Lakers in the Finals and Tony Allen is on the court as the buzzer sounds.

Also Rondobetter nice comment gave you a TP.

I honestly would be shocked if Danny wasn't at least looking for anything that could improve this team, but in the end, like Jon said, unless you're planning to trade a BBD or even a Daniels, who are we really gonna get that's meaningful, and is he worth who'd we lose? TA hasn't even played this season; I could argue Giddens has more value just cause he's been on a NBA Court this year, no matter what point of the game he's played. That said, I'm not sure what other GMs would see in Giddens. Same for Walker, since he just came back and it was in garbage time. Even if he became a tradeable asset, that probably means he's good enough to be our backup SF as opposed to having to trade him for one.

Anyways, I think it's clear, whether anyone likes it or not, that Danny doesn't really care about a backup PG. Or, he feels Daniels at point forward is just fine, and I can't say I disagree. At best, this backup PG's Lue in disguise after all. Other than that, since people seem to hang on these guys' (Doc and Danny's) words, whether said candidly or not, Danny already talked about needing a backup PG, and I'm surprised the talks didn't stop there. In theory, he hasn't ruled out the possibility, but then again, in theory he may also feel Daniels and maybe even Hudson sometime this season fits the bill.

If the Celtics were willing to bring in Bowen, then maybe they have their sights on a possible SF, IF possible. Other than that, I pretty much agree with whoever said that if "he's good enough to help the Celtics, he's probably good enough to get regular minutes". I thought the math on how much minutes the current guy could fill has been calculated to death, and we found out that the Celtics simply don't really have anymore room for someone to have regular minutes. Maybe Bowen at 38 would be ok with the kind of minutes he'd get...so...I'll say if anything we SIGN someone like him as opposed to trade for someone else.

And yes, I do realize this means cutting someone (then again, I'll easily help pack Giddens' bags, and I don't think I'll have to argue with many on that), but outside of signing someone in retirement like a PJ Brown, I don't see a trade.

I could see a move like the POB trade to either free up a roster spot or (more likely) to save some luxury tax money. I don't think he really needs to add anyone unless we have an injury.

  • 36 charges and counting..
Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Rasheed Wallace, Rajon Rondo, Kendrick Perkins, Marquis Daniels, Eddie House, Shelden Williams, Glen Davis, Tony Allen, Brian Scalabrine, Bill Walker, JR Giddens, Lester Hudson.

We are almost +15 right now in margin of victory.

That's it.  Its All Over.  World Champions.

The only way we lose this year is if one of the majors gets hurt and that is how it is for every team in the league.  No team will win the title this year without one of their top 3 or top 4 players.

Also I forgot the scenario where A-Rod puts a camera up near the basket and if LeBron or Kobe hits it, it is worth 10 points.  So if that doesn't happen the Celtics will be World Champions again.

You don't enjoy the daily trade threads that have no chance of occurring?  Come on man lighten up...

Scals for Posey straight up doesn't entice you?
Little Fockers 1.5/10
Gulliver's Travels 1/10
Grown Ups -20/10
Tron Legacy 6.5/10

I'd be fine with a trade since I'm concerned about the future of this team (in years to come).  I think it's possible to make a big trade  that leaves the team about the same for now, and better off down the road.

I agree that Danny probably has Tyronne Lue around as an assistant coach and a de facto back up if something bad happens. But if Lue is to be at given a contract, a roster spot would have to open up and that would require either a player getting cut, unlikely, or a two for on trade to open up a spot. That being the likely scenario, then that would mean a trade is more likely than not, in my view.
