The big prize next summer is obviously Lebron James. Isn't it smart business to make a push for Lebron? Wyc certainly thinks so “there is a situation under which we could do that.” Planets could align and we land Lebron. The question is how?

So far we have about $27.5 mil coming off the books. And If the captain reworks his contract ($15 mil, 3 years). That frees open another $6.5 mil, making the total $34 mil. Isn't that enough to offer one max contract. His first year Lebron will make around $16.5 mil.

Roster so far

PG    ?
SG    Pierce/
SF    Lebron/    Marquis
PF    Garnett/   Glen
C     Perk/      Sheed

Only 7 roster and about $17.5 mil to spend. Ray comes back for about 7 or 8 mil. Leaving Rondo as the odd man out. It would suck, but it won't be necessarily since Lebron is technically a Point-Forward. We can find an OK point-guard for much less. Raymond Felton, Nate Robinson, CJ Watson, Kyle Lowry, Luke Ridnour....... And also draft a backup PG.

Final Roster

PG    Felton/    1st round pick
SG    Pierce/    Ray Ray
SF    Lebron/    Marquis
PF    Garnett/   Glen
C     Perk/      Sheed

Please be courteous. Its probably impossible. I know very little about this, so correct all my mistakes. And is there any other Scenario that would land Lebron?

This doesn't work. To get any cap room at all we'd have to renounce Rondo/Ray. Even then I think your math is off.

Besides Pierce isn't taking such a massive paycut.

It's not happening for the above-mentioned reasons stated by Fafnir.

;)

Even if we renounce Rondo and Ray, there are still cap holds, etc.

You know, when players take pay cuts, they don't usually cut their salary to over 50%.

There's no way Pierce agrees to make less than Sheed makes.

I thought he meant $15M per year. Doesn't he make around $21.5 next year?

Sounds nice, but thats not the master plan.  The master plan is to lock in Rondo, and make a run at Kevin Durant (aka Larry Bird Junior).  Unfortunately OKC building a good team might hinder that, but Danny's banking against it.  DA has built a relationship with KD, and Durant is the guy he's pegging to be PP's successor.

Kevin Durant would look very very good in green.
