With all the injuries could we sign him to a 10 day deal? If we can I think we should. If Big Baby and Scal are both out, we are pretty thin up front and Sweetney could really change that (no bun, I mean pun intended, sorry Sweetney).

Oh ok, I thought when you have a certain number of injuries you are allowed to sign people to 10 day deals? We currently have four, do you know what the number of injured players must be before you can rent help? Thanks.

You have to be injured to the point where you cannot play. I don't know if Scal qualifies yet. I haven't heard enough about it.

That being said Sweetney isn't in shape enough to play, and even if he was signed the Celtics intention was to get him in shape for later in the season, and BBD may be back by then.

Even if we had a roster spot, you can't sign players to 10 day contracts until January 5.  You could, however, offer a non-guaranteed deal.

However, from what I understand the league is very reluctant to grant an additional roster spot except in the most extreme situations.  Last year, for instance -- when we were suffering from some pretty severe injuries to key players -- the team didn't even apply for one.

Somewhat off topic, but is Sweetney allowed to workout with the team? I mean can he work with their trainers etc and if he was to get in shape they could sign him at that time. I understand they would have to open a roster spot either by cutting someone or maybe a 2 for 1 around the trade deadline. I was just wondering what the rules were on someone working out with a team if they are not signed.
