Waived today; Garrett Siler, Courtney Sims, Mario West, Dontaye Draper, James White, Kurt Looby, Macy O'Baston, Shaun Pruitt, Romel Beck, Garrett Temple, Thomas Kelati, Leon Rodgers, Jared Reiner, Earl Barron, Larry Owens, Tre Kelley, Brandon Bo...wman, Dionte Christmas, Carlos Powell, Dan Dickau, Lanny Smith, Melvin Ely, Spencer Nelson, Alexander Johnson, Goran Suton. Waived yesterday: Anthony Tolliver, Mike Wilks...

question 1: anyone missing from this list?  other than maybe Pruitt who was waived a few weeks back

question 2: any of them better than Sweetney, Hudson, Giddens, or Tony Allen?

thanks for posting the list, but "is anyone missing?" after looking that list over all i can is "who cares"?

i admit i have never heard of the majority of those folks.

cant see anyone that deserves to be a celtic this year.

I dunno. I like Melvin Ely and would trust his game and size over Sheldon Williams. But Shel did have a decent game tonight with 2 SURPRISING mid range shots. Tony Allen should definitely be waived. No reason to punish Scal by "packaging" them together for a player mid season to ruin chemistry. I like the team as it is now, but would like to see a more reliable inactive squad not including Tony Allen.
Can't stop, Rondo!

I agree about Sheldon.  Ely might be better, but Williams has been here through training camp.  Since neither is likely to play anyway, I'd take the guy who knows the play.

And while we can all fantasize about the day Tony Allen is gone, let's face it, the more likely scenario is that when he's healthy, he's not only on the active roster, but on the very cusp of the rotation.  While I don't see big minutes for him, Doc has used him too much to be inactive.  I definitely could see him as the 10th or 11th man at some point this year.

i thought Suton (from michigan state? am i thinking of the right guy?) might catch on somewhere. not here, although he's probably in better shape than sweetney.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. He seemed a little bit like Big Z. Great down low offensively and has great size.

Also, Stromile Swift was waived like a week ago. He might be worth a minimum deal if we somehow end up with an open roster spot.

Haven't seen many of these guys play, but:

-Suton must have had a bad camp if he couldn't grab a spot in Utah. They like their perimeter bigs (like Okur), and it sounds like this guy could really shoot and rebound in college. We know rebounding translates very well, so he'd at least have that.

-I remember Earl Barron having a decent stretch a few years back, but he clearly hasn't built on it. Very bad shooting percentages. The fact he played 19 mpg last year says something about Miami.

-If  we could've gotten him in earlier, Kurz could have been worth a look. SF, can shoot the 3. Know nothing about his defense, though. And it looks like shoot the 3 is all he does since his 2pt FG% is worse than 3 pt.

-Demetris Nichols is another frustrating one. With good coaching, seems like he could turn into a Bowen type: long defender, spot up 3pt shooter.

-It's really hard to understand why james white can't stick on a roster. super athletic and good on d. and if we are supposed to be hopeful that giddens or walker will figure out offense in the nba because of D-league scoring, well, white puts them both to shame.

-Last note: don't remember who it was but i got a  chuckle out of whomever referred to "Macy O'baston" a few weeks/months ago.

And... 1000. Star Me!

The only guy who might interest me is the waived player everyone omitted from the lists above: Morris Almond (waived by Orlando yesterday).

Almond can really, really shoot.  He could be a Korver/Kapono type player. He led the D league in scoring with 26 ppg and had multiple 50+ point games.

I agree. Assuming we keep at least one of TA or JR to be defensive presence, I'd be all in favor of Almond over the other of the two.

I'd also rather have Stackhouse than anyone on this list.....

Maceo Baston, Melvin Ely and Alexander Johnson would all be pretty interesting to have as 6th big, however only over Sweetney.

Macy O'Baston? No, he would want too much money. Mel Vinely would be a viable option, though.
