I can't believe how quickly Sheed has stepped into his role and looked entirely comfy out there.  In return I can't tell you how comfortable I feel having him on the floor in any number of situations.  What a luxury to have off the bench or stepping in to start. I don't feel like we're skating on thin ice waiting for KG or Perk to get back in the game any more.

Add Sheed to last years team I think the Celts would make it out of the East last year without KG.

In short:  I'm sold on Sheed.

Absolutely.  And the beauty of this is that come playoff time, he literally can be the bench at the 4/5 spots, as we can do a 3 man rotation with him, KG, and Perk.

That means that there's little-to-no drop off when Perk or KG is on the bench.  That's just huge.  Can you imagine how much better the 2008 team even would've been if there had been no drop off with KG or Perk on the bench?

I agree too.  Really, both Rasheed and Daniels have fit in flawlessly.  As I said earlier, this was an amazing off-season.

Yeh, I'm not trying to sell Daniels short, he's been great, but I literally feel calmer watching games now because of Sheed.

That is exactly what has me so excited for next Tuesday and the months beyond. They say basketball is a game of runs--well, not against this team. Marquis Daniels is a second-unit Paul Pierce--as in he smart, strong, deliberate and effective. The fact that he is playing against second line players (Jamario Moon) makes him just as effective as Paul is against other team's starters. Ditto for 'Sheed, who is a big fish no matter what pond you put him in. That just makes me calmer.

Well, not calmer. But I'm thinking its gonna be like this constant state of euphoria and that sounds fine to me.

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I have a problem *ever* staying calm for the games.  Either I'm amped up when we're winning, tense when it's close, or irritated when we're losing.  I'm not sure what it would take for me to remain calm.

You know what I've noticed?  At home I'm a completely different viewer than in the arena.  In the arena I am vocal and emotional.  This is particularly true when I'm seeing the C's in an opposing arena.  I can be cocky and obnoxious (in an entertaining way).

At home, I'm more subdued, just lying in the weeds waiting to have an emotional outburst at a last second shot.

Oh, and by the way, I'm buying what Sheed is selling too.

the NEED for SHEED

seriously, when sheed is in the game, i am calm

but when baby is in the game, i am afraid of losing

and if i ever stepped onto the court, i would be afraid of getting run over by strong people

Do you know who he calms the most? Perkins. The most underrated part about Sheed is that Perkins no longer is too afraid to get into foul trouble.

agreed, I think Rasheed will find himself in the starting lineup though.  Perk off the bench will be sweeet, especially because both garnett and wallace can play PF, so no matter who gets two fouls first, perk will fill in at center.

i would rather keep Perkins in the first 5 and not mess with that. Sheed with the 2nd unit looks really good and provides the length off the bench that we need. and dont forget- once the matches start to count, we'll be leaning on Perk's D on the opposing teams centres.

Dwight Howard anyone?

I'd also rather start Perk.  His defensive mentality fits in better with the starters.  If Sheed's going to be jacking up 7 three's a game, I'd rather have him do it with the second unit.

Rasheed can play center as well. They should keep Perkins in the starting five because he's a better fit offensively with the rest of the starters. I do think Sheed will often end up finishing games to provide spacing, 3 point shooting, and free throw shooting.
