I'm assuming, like a majority of other Celticsbloggers, most of the time that I spend on this blog takes place when I’m at work…on the clock, so to speak. Concurrently, I also like to frequent other prominent online sports publications such as espn.com, Realgm, and Sports Illustrated’s web site.

In regards to the latter, I have some serious beef.

While I think Ian Thompson and Chris Mannix are great  and  the Truth and Rumors section is a nice quick snapshot into the “hot stories” of the day, the website also likes to splatter itself with other “hot” content. I’m referring to the fact the web page is half sports - half swimsuit issue.

Now, like most other warm blooded men, I’m never one to criticize gratuitous…ummm…I think you know where I’m going with this. However, if my boss looks over my shoulder in the office and sees me reading an analysis of the Allen Iverson signing, she may roll her eyes and keep moving…no harm, no foul. If she looks at my computer and sees Anna Kournikova in a bathing suit standing under a waterfall? Well, that’s a different story.

Again, I’m not one to criticize certain content. To each his own, as far as I’m concerned. But, I’m not dumb enough, nor do I have any interest in bikinis or women in bikinis when I’m simply looking for a 5 minute break in my day to read someone’s opinion on the Ricky Rubio saga.

I’m curious as to what other people think and whether this has ever caused a problem for anyone.

Again, I love…I mean love being able to read about sports a couple of times a day during work. Like many of you, if that weren’t the case, I’m sure I wouldn’t be writing this now. But, a sports website should be a sports website. I’ll pass on the bikini in the office, thank you very much…

By the way, I just reread the last paragraph and realize that my 18 year old self would think I were a pathetic excuse of a man if he ever read this post.

I'd say invest in ESPN insider.

Regrettably, it seems that any sports-related website these days sells ad space that, more often than not, tries to attract the attention of the presumable demographic (18-50 year old males) through sometimes not-so-subtle use of T&A. That goes for TV ads too.

Sometimes, I find it a little insulting. You're really think you're going to get me to drink your crappy beer because your commercials feature women in bikinis?

Always my first stop.

In reference to the ads, SI isn't posting these  pictures as ads, they are direct sub pages on the site, right on the front page.

It's really too bad because I've always looked at SI as highly credible publication. If they created another SI Swimsuit web page, I'm sure they would draw their target viewers and wouldn't detract from the credibility of their sports coverage.

I got you, huzy. Was commenting more generally.

I think I only check SI's site for fantasy football projections these days, largely because they seem to be more about the swimsuit coverage than legit sports content. At least, that's what the SI "brand" connotes to me now.

Solution....don't go to si.com when at work. With celticblog.com available, what's the need?

I suggest you go read some Peter King then.  You could end up having the loftiest Friday ever.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.
