Sign flip murray...as back up point guard..

He is about 6"3 ..can play tha back up 1 or 2....can play alongside house and can defend tha bigger twos...can be a good scorer in our system..

He can bring more good than bad to our team...and I would trust him over gabe and  everyotha point guard we can go afta...

His past stats of not being efficient are tha past....we cant just x him off becuz of that...he would be n a better system tha would give him easier shots..like we did marbury..but tha diff is tha flip would execute better..and is more of a threat....

If we are able to land him for tha LLE then adding a smallforward for defense and size would be great....
 Moon or warrick....
So our bench could be.....

rondo/murray
Allen/house
Pierce/moon?/warrick/walker
Kg/davis/powe *mid season
Perk/wallace/swift

If this is possible through some players accepting the lle and gettin a sign and trade.....that's a good title 18 runn

Yes, he has been mentioned.

I would be happy with him at the vet min as long as they still find a SF and 4th big man.

Meh...   he's pretty redundant w/ House.  Not really a PG, he's an undersized 2.  Either he or House will be giving up a lot of size on the defensive side, I don't see him as being much of an improvement on the defensive end.  He's a gunner, just like House, just not quite as deadly a shooter.  Not big enough to spell Pierce, which is the biggest thing; our backup wing really needs to be a legit SF-type, not an undersized 2-guard.

Not a bad guy to have on the bench, but doesn't fill any of the team's real needs, which as mentioned are a legit backup SF, a rotation-caliber 4th big, and maybe a real PG (ideally with some size) to back up Rondo/play anongside House.

Both guys are offensive players, but Flip's game isn't like House's. House is catch and shoot. Flip handles the ball well and takes the ball to the basket much more frequently.

He's still a guy who looks for his shot more than to get other guys involved, isn't a good defender, and isn't big enough to help out at SF.  I wouldn't mind him, but we're talking ninth-man territory here.

Well he is a betta defender than house..which is true...and about depth....here is tha reason y I thought of him...
Say we are able to do a trade involving ..t. Allen ..pruitt giddens.. or scal for moon...

That means there is more space onda roster..then add murray...
But my main thing is gets bbd back first....then get a smallforward...then worry about murray....

Bench:

Murray
House
Moon/walker
Baby/powe
Wallace

Why is this guy still unsigned? Anyone care to elaborate?

Flip is an above average player with lots of experience. Marquis & Flip would look good together.

I agree.  And in the long term, there's only going to be room for him or House in a playoff rotation, not both.  So I suppose he'd be OK as a depth move, but unless House or Daniels gets hurt, I don't see him helping all that much.

  • LETS DO IT AGAIN!
I actually started 2 new topics about Flip Murray.
One was directly about Flip, and the other was a poll for a backup PG in which I picked Flip.

I believe he would be great.
Scorer and decent player.
Replies to my suggestions said Flip wasnt a defensive minded player...

I wanted him before the Celts even got Sheed.
With Flip's scoring, and Eddie on the perimeter, that opens it up for Sheed and BBD.

i'd rather give a young lester hudson a chance personally...i say bring in multiple PG's for training camp and let them duke it out for the final roster spot.

We need a real PG, not another undersized SG.

The problem is that a lineup of Flip, Eddie, Daniels, BBD, and Sheed is never going to be on the floor in a meaningful game.  Come playoff time, there's really only going to be room for one big man, one wing, and one point guard off the bench.  So if Flip came on board, it'd really be a matter of House or Flip, not both.  And since they'd both likely be on the floor with a couple other starters, I think House's shooting is more valuable as playmakers would already be on the court.

And while you could argue it'd make a nice second unit for the regular season, I'd ask whether it'd matter all that much.  In games the C's are winning by 20, it's not going to matter if it's Flip Murray or J.R. Giddens out there.  And if it's close, the starters are likely going to play enough minutes that House/Daniels/Wallace/BBD can handle all the backup minutes.

I'd be OK with Flip here, but I don't think he'd make much of an impact.

I like Flip, but like mentioned before on this thread, I would give the minutes to Billy and JR and Hudson rather, plus I don't really think that he would sign under 3 mill/year

He's a shooting guard.  We have plenty of those.  We need a point guard.

Flip likes the ball and can score.  That's all he can do.
