Look, I can understand the concern about KG's knee and our age. I am actually somewhat apprehensive that KG can come back 100% healthy and play like the animal he's been his whole career. But it has more to do with his age and overall minutes in the league than it does with this specific injury. There were never any long term alarm bells put off with this injury and I really think it was simply a bone spur rubbing on the wrong spot. He should have had surjry at the beginning of the season and I think he will be fine regarding this specific injury. You always worry with the minutes he's played. But KG is also a Jordan type athlete. He could very well play at a high level until he's 35-36.
As for Pierce and Ray. I look at Ray as a Reggie Miller type and Pierce is only 32, it's not like he's 37 for God's sake. These three guys take incredible care of themselves too.
But again, I do understand people's and pundits concerns about age and why they don't pick us for that reason. I am just not that concerned about it, especially with the bench we're putting together.
People should also be sounding the alarm bell about a 31 year old Kobe Bryant who's played 13 seasons himself, may olympic team performances and many deep runs into the playoffs. But I forget, that is LA and Kobe is not susceptible to the same concerns as everyone else.
So I get all the age concerns but Bynum? BYNUM? The guy is stiff, and he's a Edited. Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.. He gives out a few cheap shots. But his fundamental core is that of a wuss. Game in, game out, he is inconsistent and when he is not clearly the biggest, strongest player on the floor, he disappears. I've been hearing form my firends here in LA how bynum is the next Wilt...WHAT? THE GUY HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO BE "BACK IN the groove and rotation last season and he barely got off the bench for their playoff runs.
You cannot teach toughness, people either are or they're not. it's the same for Gasol. He tries and he "acts" it but he isn't and never will be.
To suggest that the Lakers losing Bynum is like us having lost Garnett is like saying Bill Cartwirght was Like Bill Russell. Not even in the same league. You can't even measure what Garnett brings to all aspects of a game.
Bynum? an occasional good game, then the same old mopey headed lug running up and down the floor.
