What I really want to know is if he can shoot a respectable FT % next season. As for the jumper I have no expectations so I can be pleasantly surprised if it shows significant improvement.

i totally agree, his FT% needs to go up.  His shot has been bad so still having the hiccups there is almost acceptable but the FT thing needs to change.  Its the same shot from when youre in 5th grade til now and you cant hit it with regularity?  I find that odd especially for a PG.

Yeah I'm much more concerned about FT% which should be at worst 70% this season.   I have faith in the staff that they working on his 'chicken wing' delivery.

I haven't worried a second about his 3 pt% or overall jump shooting.

Just some information concerning Tony Parker FT%

01/02 -  67%
02/03 -  75%
03/04 -  70%
04/05 -  65%
05/06 -  70%

Career - 72%
Little Fockers 1.5/10
Gulliver's Travels 1/10
Grown Ups -20/10
Tron Legacy 6.5/10

Rondo's younger than Davis, Hudson, Giddens and Williams.

I think with his progress and success so far he's earned more than a little patience on the part of the fans.

With all the shooters/scorers we have, I am glad that shooting happens to be his main flaw. It really is the one flaw we can afford him to have. *If* he develops this shot I would say he instantly becomes one of the top 5 (maybe 3) PGs in the league.

If I had a nickel for every time that I read "all Rondo has to do is add a jump shot this offseason", I would.... well, I would have a lot of nickels.

Very true.. but he's also more talented than all of them combined, so we should expect more from him.

For what it is worth-- One thing to watch for is exactly how Rondo misses his shots. If he is missing left and right, it is more likely to be technique. If your hand isn't behind the ball or your elbow flares or you don't have a good follow through, the ball deviates from the direction you are aiming. Simply stated it is all physics. If the force is directly behind the ball and the follow through points at the target, the ball will go straight. On the other hand, if it is short or long, it is a combination of talent and repetition problem. This can sometimes be aided by visualization techniques. (too many people look at the "basket" which is far too big of target. If you look at the small net hanger in the front of the basket you will be more accurate as you visualize the ball going over it. When I start "screwing up" my shot and start hitting the back of the rim, it is normally because I have lost my small target. When I focus on the small target, things immediately get better. A small target always brings focus. I remember Bird getting really mad at himself on a MADE free throw because the ball didn't go EXACTLY where it wanted it to.

This line of thinking is where I am.  I expect a marginal improvement on the jumpshot, but he will become a menace if he can continue to get in the lane and hit his freethrows at a 75 % clip.
