I don't understand it for Minny. Hopefully there are draft picks or cash compensation or something, and Blount gets waived.

Center that costs them about 2 million less than Q Richardson...

have you seen Blount play? are they just saying screw it, we're going for John Wall?

Yes, I've seen him play. If there's something he can at least do, is play some.

During the only stretch last year that they actually let Blount play he averaged 9 points on 67% shooting in 18.5 minutes of play. Very short sample, but he really didn't play last year otherwise. He's quite serviceable, just very overpaid at the moment and lazy. But even so, it saves management 2 million.

On the other hand, Miami, who is in tax land, by acquiring Richardons they're going to pay 4 million more than they would've otherwise. We'll see how he fits in, but Miami being a borderline playoff team, I don't know if it's wise.

Blount is still an expiring contact, so they can still find ways to move him. Maybe for someone even cheaper.

My understanding is of Q-Rich's contract is that a good chunk ($1.8mil) of that $8.7 million has already been paid by his signing on fee when he joined with the Suns. So the cash has been paid, but the signing on fee gets spread throughout the contract and goes on Miami's cap figure for this coming season.

So the Heat would be paying an extra $830k (Blount at $7.97 million) in luxury tax payments ... but saving $1.8 million in cash payments ... making a net saving.

Not a 100% certain all that is correct, but I think that's the picture of it.

Time for Blount to skip his lazy self right out of the league.  Buh bye!
