The bottom line is this there are 16 main different kind of drugs.  Cigarettes, alcohol, prescription pills, PED's, doctor prescribed pills, coke,k,acid, shrooms, mesc, crack, meth, heroin,x,dust,& inhalants.

All of them are garbage except for prescription pills when used properly for something and doctor prescribed pills like medication that people take to help them out for something.   Otherwise, its all garbage don't do any of it.

Trees are not a drug, it is a leaf.  The fact that it is still illegal and grouped in together with the words drugs is a major factor in what is wrong with society today. Not only does it hurt our economy, it messes up our society.  Anybody who does something crazy while on "trees" has a problem in the first place and would probably have done it anyway.   Trees are a plant, everything else is man made except for shrooms which grow on cow manure which is suspect.  The fact that people even group trees in with any of these other drugs is a major mistake in many aspects of this country.

Can you be serious?  How bout opium - ever hear of a poppy?  BUt Not a drug - even with th presence of six alkaloids?

Musrooms? I assume you are talking about psylocibin?  How about amnita or panthera? But a fungus not a drug?

How about ergot? another fungus?  Or what do they call it now  - oh thats right - LSD?

Do I really need to continue this exercise?

What is wrong with society is education - MJ is a drug deal with it.  If the thought of it being classified as a psychoactive substance offends you you are not mature enough to consume it.  The degree to which it affects the mind is not and should not effect its classification.

I think people ought to be able to ingest what they want, so long as the effects don't harm other people (such as consuming alchohol before driving).  If the long term effects of some of these substances kill the users off, it will eventually improve the overall quality of the human gene pool.

What about those substances that lead to severe addiction, which in turn resort to people turning to illegal behavior (theft, prostitution, murder) to obtain money / drugs for their next fix?

Then obviously those are effects that would harm others.  Of course, if everything were legalized, the prices would drop precipitously, so people might not have to rob and steal to feed their habits.

Do theft, prostitution and murder occur because people are unable to obtain cigarettes or booze?  Both of those legal drugs are highly addictive too.

Let the cops deal with illegal drugs.

Let the league deal with PED because law enforcement, for the most part, doesn't care about it.

Brickowski brings up a very interesting point, and I'd love to discuss it separately, so I'll stick to the original poster.

PEDs vs more hardcore drugs is a big difference.  I'm in full agreement that PEDs should be punished more if you are an athlete, and here is why:
-If there was no regulation of PEDs in sports, then ultimately the only way to compete at a high level like every other athlete would be to take the extreme and dangerous drugs.  An industry as large as sports should not inherently require damaging oneself.  This is where "choice", such as with recreational drugs, is lost.
-Childhood sports are used as a way to teach young people the basics of teamwork, sportsmanship, rules, and fun.  Professional athletes get paid to be entertainers, but their respective leagues are looked up to by these young players.  Cheating via PED's sends an absolutely awful message to the youth who rely on the above values as they progress through all facets of life
-PED's damage the parity and ultimately the image of a league.  The league is a business, and the cost to repair this image is very high.  Those that contribute to this high cost should absolutely pay a high cost themselves.

There is a reason that a user of a drug and a dealer of a drug receive drastically different prison sentences.  A dealer is contributing to the addiction and corruption of others.  PED's contribute to the corruption of a league, youth, and values.

I took multiple things that I think are banned now. They were no big deal. You could get them at GNC.
I'm not even sure why they ban them. If everyone does them it's not cheating, unless you have some unrealistic obsession with keeping athletes today on the same playing field with yesterday.
If a player overdoes it and dies from a ped it shouldn't reflect on everyone else
