Can we sign him and send him overseas like many other NBA teams do or is that a non option for us? He seems like a guy you want to keep the rights to because he could be a decent or atleast useful player.

If we were just gonna send him overseas I don't see why he would sign with us. He could get a bigger, more lucrative contract from a European club a la Josh Childress without being committed to a particular team in the Association, thereby broadening his chances of returning to (or joining) the league with one of the NBA's 30+ teams.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Just who overseas is going to give a low profile player like Hudson a lucrative deal like Childress?

He could get a job playing overseas, but it won't be anywhere near Childress money. Also basketball jobs abroad have become more scare with the down economy.

I hope you realize that the Hawks maintain the NBA rights to Josh Childress.

My local team Xacobeo-Blusens, won the right of taking part on the Spanish ACB after a trial that lasted 20 years (yes, 20 years!).
It is 2 months before the season starts and we still dont have a single player. If Lester Hudson accepts coming for 100.000€/year he will be more than welcome in Santiago. ;D

He will have plenty of playing time in probably the toughest league out of the NBA. So, Danny, send us Lester Hudson, you wont regret it!

http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/articles/2009/08/04/celtics_sign_williams_to_beef_up_frontcourt_bench/

The Celtics received some good news on second-round draft choice Lester Hudson, who sustained a broken finger during the Orlando Summer Pro League last month. He is expected to return to training in three weeks, according to agent Lance Young. Hudson backed up Gabe Pruitt in Orlando, scoring 15 points in 44 minutes in three games before being injured.

The waiving of Pruitt last week opened a spot on the Celtics’ roster for a point guard, and the Celtics are weighing whether to go with Hudson or a veteran free agent. Starting point guard Rajon Rondo’s backups are free agent Marquis Daniels, who has agreed to a contract with the Celtics, and House, but both are considered shooting guards.

BG says Daniels has agreed to a contract. Not sure how they came to that conclusion without a signed contract

I think it's just lazy reporting, and they are referring to the fact that he has agreed to sign with the C's, if they don't do a sign and trade.  Basically what we have known for weeks.

Its amazing how big a dropoff it is between Spears and Dell'Apa.

To answer the question, no.  We can't *sign* a player and send him overseas.  As soon as we give him a contract, he counts against our 15 man roster limit.  We can recommend he sign over there, but we can't "send" him there.
