So my fiance and I are planning our wedding (7/25/10) and our next challenge is finding a good band.

We live in Southie but are getting married in Rhode Island (Newport.)

So far all of the bands that we've had recommended to us or have looked into haven't struck a chord.  ;)

I'm not sure if anyone in the Southern, MA or Rhode Island area has any recommendations that are somewhat budget friendly (don't have to be dirt cheap...but we cannot afford Walter McCarty.  ;D)

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated and rewarded with TP's.

Thanks so much!!!

I am in Ri and there is a great Reggae band in newport called the Ravers and they are awesome. The first time I heard them was at the Ocean Mist in my home town of Matunuck Beack, Ri and they ble wme away. I love reggae and it is fitting fot newport , they also play other music.
The head singer is a short white guy that sounds just like Marley.

My wife and I, married 6 years ago this Sunday (thank you), had a great cover band.  We can't remember the name, but have it in a file... the one issue is that we have just moved and everything is still boxed.  I should have the name for you in a week, but PM me if not.  The band is based in Gloucester, MA but they had no problem driving to New Haven, CT to play our wedding.  They used to play regularly at Kitty O'Shea's Irish Pub in Beverly Mass and maybe also the Landing in Salem (?).
Celtics fan for life.
