the big return is tonight. we all know it did nto wend well with him here, but he deserves a huge ovation tonight. the guy was about as good as it gets for about 5-6 years. any thoughts or differing opinion?

Man, #5.  Loved the guy when he was here.  One of my all-time favorite Sox although he definitely started to rub me the wrong way in that '04 season before he was traded. 

But from about '98-'03, there was no player on the Sox that I rooted for harder. 

He deserves an ovation.

Standing O.  Bill Simmons' twitter said it was 70 seconds long, he was timing it because he thought it was gonna be over 100 seconds.  A long hat tip.  A thank you towards the Sox dugout after he grounded out because they were up and clapping as well.  I don't like the way he left but it was still a pretty special scene.

so happy about that. never wanted to see Nomar go.

I always thought the media portrayed Nomar's leaving inaccurately. He never wanted to leave. The front office wanted to go in a different direction...which is their prerogative.

but i was listenting to EEI today and they were talking about how he shot his way out of town. totally not true. also not true was him turning down that 60 mil deal. It was pulled off the table.

anyway. Nomar is forever a Red Sox to me. and I would love to see him come back as a bench player to end his career.
