I haven't been able to watch or really pay attention to the summer league games. Can you guys give me a run-down on how individual players are doing and how much help we might get from them next year?

Coby Karl has been pretty good.

Walker/Giddens looked good.

Pruitt looked horrible.

Lester looked good until he broke his finger.

None of the bigs really look good at all.

If i was playing basketball with my friends + Swift... i wouldn't pick him for my team.

Chris Lofton has hit a lot of 3s.

Swift has been...okay.  Maybe passable with some training camp under his belt as a 6th big.

Nick Fazekas is awful.
Sweetney only played one game and wasn't impressive.
Kevin Rogers has been practically invisible.

I can't even remember anybody else.

Wow, I must be watching different games than everyone else.

Hudson looked good on both sides of the ball the first game.  The second game he only looked good on defense.  It was obvious he hadn't played the one very much, but a good hustle guy.

The Little Three have played pretty well. Gabe is pretty steady on both sides of the ball. JR with the exception of today's game has been pretty effective offensively, though he needs to learn how to hit a free throw.  If he can learn to catch and shoot, he'd be pretty good, but he has to dribble his way into a shot.  Walker has played pretty decent.  Overall they look like they're trying to play their roles and not try to dominate the game from a one on one standpoint.

Swift is slow, but seems to have gradually been playing better.

Fazekas has a nice outside shot, but hasn't played defense, nor rebounded much.

Rogers had a good first game, and has had his moments since, but seems a bit timid at times.

Karl has a nice shot, but gets beat off the dribble.  Pretty good spot up shooter.

Lofton is the same way, only a bit more range.  When he's hot, he reminds one of a poor man's Eddie. Defense and team play are tough for him.

Overall, the guys that have been around seem to understand they have a role to play, therefore their individual games don't stand out.  The others, they don't quite grasp that, such as Lofton, who obviously can shoot, but doesn't quite know where he fits.  It took Karl four games before he threw a good pass, and it was a great one to JR.  It has more or less looked like a bunch of guys playing a pick-up game, but they're not trying to play a pick up game.  So things look very sluggish.  The other teams are largely the same way.

Is Swift currently slow for his height? I know he wasn't in the past, but I'm wondering if his slowness is exaggerated in Summer League where we have a bunch of small guys who run real fast from over-excitement.

I've been unimpressed with Walker as I was really hoping he could step up to take over the backup 2-3 role. He dominated the D-league, and Summer league is only a slight step up from that. Granted it's something like 10 fouls to foul you out, but 6 fouls in 20 minutes is pretty horrendous.

The bigs look terrible. I doubt any of them has a shot to make the team. Sweetney especially looks out of shape.

My bad. I only based my post on the first 2 games. Didn't realise there was a game today. Bill Walker played better, though there still was a lot of fouling.

I do hope Lester can get back to playing though. Interests me somewhat. He doesn't have huge upside due to his age, so he would be more of a "he is what he is" type guy.

Just need to figure out what "is" is.
