Rumors are now that Bass is being pursued bu ORL.  People seem to be making a big deal out of his Free Agency.  Am I the only one that doesn't worry too much about a rival of ours signing him?

People really need to start being more descriptive/accurate with their thread titles.

Don't know that I'd say I'm "worried" but guys like Bass are what a championship team needs off the bench.

Bass is a legit bench contributor -- not a flyer like Notorious POB or  an unproven young rook liek Bill Walker. He'll replace what they lost from Battie and make up a little of the difference of Turkoglu-->Carter.

Ainge didn't add guys like that last summer ---- i'm hoping he does this summer.

That's a good point.  I just don't think they have him coming off the bench for only a couple of minutes.  They are lacking one starter right now, wherever it's going to come from.  Rashard should be playing the 3, and with Hedo, they need to start a legit 4, and I don't see Bass killing us as a starting 4.  That's all.

I bet it doesn't happen, earlier I forgot the source someone said that Orlando was cash strapped and probably wouldn't go after Sheed (I think that's who it was). I doubt they have enough money for Bass. Plus he's not really that good, a little better than a healthy Leon is all.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I tend to agree with this.  I think he's a good style hustle guy to have come off the bench and get some rebounds for you, but ORL signing him doesn't make me worry about them anymore than I did yesterday.

Do you mind if I second this?

I have yet to hear anyone care about Bass this offseason until I read this thread.

And I frequent like 4 different forums.

Yes agreed. should be in the rumors section and maybe with a question mark.  I thought Bass Thumper had moved to Orlando  :P

Maybe the Magic are planning on moving Lewis back to the 3 with Turk gone.

It will allow the Magic to play a fast PF off the bench.

Bass is one of the best big man jump shooters in the league. Add in his defensive ability, athleticism, and decent rebounding (below par but serviceable), and you have a player that's a great fit in the Magic's system.

That said, I don't think they need him now that they've gotten Ryan Anderson. Anderson gives them a backup power forward with a very impressive jump shot. He was a great acquisition in the Vince Carter trade.

What Orlando needs to do now is to sign a replacement for Marcin Gortat. They need a big man who can back up Dwight Howard, rather than someone who can play alongside him.
