He is still young and is a decent defender. He is also a guy I would not mind signing to a long term contract. I feel there is still a lot of room for improvement but he is a good perimeter player who plays similar to James Posey.

Would he take the full MLE from the Celtics? I have a feeling he is back with the Laker's especially if they let Odom walks. I think Ariza is a good player to have for our current and future teams. If we can get Sheed and a player like Ariza then we can unload Tony Allen and Scals contract to free up some money and perhaps get a future second rounder.

He isn't coming to Boston, he hates the Celtics and loves the Lakers, with whom he will sign an extension.

So the Lakers are going to let Odom walk and think Ariza will replace his minutes. I also read that Ariza is not taking a hometown discount which means the Celtics can entice him. I wouldn't see an issue with offering him (a young player) a five year deal.

I think he's going to be a little too rich for our blood.  The only thing I could see working out is if he wants to take a little less money for a longer contract, and I don't see that happeneing.  I think he ends up either re-signing with the Lakers, or taking a lucrative deal somewhere.  With how serious the Sheed tlaks are getting, I don't think we're going to have the money to bring him in even if we wanted to.

Yeah, and I don't know how I feel about him at a long contract.  He'd be great playing with the Big Three, but role players like him and Posey don't have great value playing with a rebuilding team.

At this point, I'd probably rather go fewer years and get Wallace.

The Lakers love Ariza. Ariza loves the Lakers.

They will pay him for sure. He's not an option for us.

Too true.  We also forget that this guy has only really had one good season.  I think he looked great last year, and I'm sure his career will end up fine, but let's all remember that Devean George also started for a season.  I would just be a little nervous offering decent money for a long time to a guy like this with a team that wants to win now.  He stepped up huge on the largest stage in the most famous arena, so my worries are probably all for naught, but it's worth a thought.  He could end up getting a good size contract and dissappearing.

Time will tell.  Just a thought.
