Yes, he's an overpriced version of Raef LaFrentz.

And the problem with getting a tall player is the risk of having a 7fter, who jacks threes, can't play defense, but gets mislabeled as an all-star franchise player.

BTW, after surgery, Chris Webber became such a player.

What we need is a player who matches Leon Powe's portfolio: a solid rebounder who plays tough defense, can hustle, and put up points on the block. The problem, once again, is that with a Powe, one needs an aging 7fter, see PJ Brown, to sub when the height requirement is needed, for 10 min stretches but for defensive adjustments.

So the idea here is to find a Powe-like starter, assuming that Leon doesn't recovery this season, but then back him up with a PJ Brown and not a BBD. This formula will work.

I'm confused.  Why are we talking about Dirk, and why are we talking about adding a starter?

LOL at overpaid Raef Lafrentz. This guy led a so-so team to the NBA Finals, while going through the Spurs dynasty at their peak. It can also be argued that the referees more than helped the Heat in the finals that year. Dirk is going to go down as one of the NBA greats and he deserves it. The touch this guy has for a 7 footer is ridiculous.

And I don't really get this thread. It came out of left field.

lol wat?

Seriously, though, an overpaid Raef Lafrentz? I mean, that's wrong on so many levels. He's arguably the best player that came out of that super deep '98 draft class.

Now THAT is a truly absurd idea for a thread. Everyone knows how 08-09 would've turned out if we really had received Willy in that trade.

I don't know what this is about. But Dirk is a HOF'er, I'd trade Ray for Dirk yesterday if I could.

Maybe the OP meant "player" more like "playa." Like if you date him you'll end up pregnant and in jail.  :-\ A possibilty...

Dirk is the best shooter of his size of all time.  He's really, really good.  He's won MVP and taken his team to the Finals.

That said, what the heck are you even talking about this for?
