David Stern's press conference

On NBA.tv David is giving a press conference as i write has said he decided to fine LBJ $25,000 for not addressing the media and not speaking to the Magic after the game.After speaking to James and got an apology he thought that their were 2 elements to this matter that bothered him and something had to be done.LBJ had surgury today and will address the media when he is feeling up to it with an apology to fans/children.

i think it is lame that stern fined the guy.  his job is to play the game. i think it would speak better to lbj's character if he did address the media/congratulate the magic when he lost, but he should be within his right to not do either.  it isnt like he did or said anything inappropriate

players are supposed to addresss the media after the game, that is part of the job. Of course he should get fined, everybody else who does the same thing gets fined also.

Hopefully LeBron has learned his lesson and next year when he loses he'll address the media and we'll get a "both teams played hard."

What's ridiculous is the perception that Stern has created -- he waited to see what the reaction would be to the LBJ incident, and then made policy accordingly.  Namely, there was outcry that LBJ might not even be fined, and so Stern decides to fine.  Would have been better if from the get go Stern had said LBJ would be fined because of the rules..

please tell me this was'nt an actual press conference. please tell me there were more important things he was addressing and he was just answering a reporter's question.

To me, it wasn't the fact that LeBron did what he did...it was heat of the moment and surely he was very disappointed.  It was the fact that he didn't even apologize for doing it, he basically said that somebody in his position shouldn't be expected to shake hands and whatever after losing a big game.  LeBron revealed himself to be a spoiled poor sport, and for that he deserves to be fined.

 Thats how I feel about the thing. I might (stress might) be able to forgive him if he said it was the wrong thing to do but was done out of anger at the time. To me this says mcuh about his character and maturity.

Other players have been fined this amount previously for missing press conferences. To treat LeBron differently was not a good idea. You can't blow off the media during the playoffs after a game.

During the regular season it wouldn't be a big deal to me.
