He seemed like he really cared about the Celtics and enjoyed playing here during his time in green. I don't remember him mocking Pierce. At the Vet min he would be a steal.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Another bad defender, not very good work ethic... Not the kind of player that suits this team

His offense doesn't even come close to making up for all his other deficiencies when he shoots around 30% from the field like he did last year.

I don't know how he is at this point, but he was a savior during those Celtics days where it was just him and Pierce.  Like somebody mentioned, he did seem to enjoy playing here.  I don't remember him being a cancer in our team at all.  He sometimes would make a bonehead play, but one thing I always liked about him was his hustle.  When he was playing here, he seemed more mature and he definitely hustled his butt off.

If this was the old Ricky this wouldn't be bad.  He would be pretty perfect.  A veteran scorer that can create your own shots and play decent defense.  However, nothing to me indicates that he's in this kind of form.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
He seemed like he really cared about the Celtics and enjoyed playing here during his time in green. I don't remember him mocking Pierce. At the Vet min he would be a steal.

Here are some quotes I pulled last year when people were discussing the Ricky thing:

Quote from: Doc Rivers (via the September 29, 2006 Herald)
``The other [off-the-court] stuff going on [with Ricky] was tough,'' he said. ``It was more directed from player to player, and that affects chemistry, and that has to be cleared up. Players have to pull for each other.''

Quote from: September 29, 2006 Herald
There is also a quiet acknowledgement from the team that by midseason, Rivers had an unworkable situation on his hands. The Davis experiment, while bearing fruit on the floor after two seasons, had run its course in the locker room.

According to a team source, Davis habitually undercut Paul Pierce's authority, often talking and joking behind the Celtics captain's back, and ``rolling his eyes'' when Pierce attempted to address the rest of the team. Similar things were said about Davis during his brief time as LeBron James' teammate in Cleveland.

``Paul was very aware of it,'' said the source. ``It began to affect his play and his demeanor. That was something that had to change.''

Quote from: April 21, 2006 Herald
But at least Rivers claims to see more clearly now. With the various disruptions and distractions of Mark Blount, Ricky Davis and Marcus Banks out of the way, Rivers expects to have a more orderly process in hand next October.

``I think so,'' [Doc] said. ...

I'm sure there are other reports out there.  Also, there were plenty of rumors that KG and Ricky didn't get along in Minnesota.

All the negativity in this town sucks. It sucks, and it stinks, and it sucks. - Rick Pitino

I remember people wanted to keep Ricky and trade Pierce. LOL
;D  how true!
ricky was good for the first part of games then it was his own highlight film (in his head at least), normally i'd say maybe for vet min but he really really looked either done last year or he just didn't care, either way that would state not what we are looking for

Ricky Davis is the definition of a me first player.  Horrible fit for the Celtics.

In Cleveland, the guy actually took an inbound pass, dribbled down to the Cavs hoop (so no one was there) and threw the ball off of his own backboard in an attempt to get his 10th rebound in a game so he would get credit for a triple double.

Ricky Davis would probably last about two weeks with the current Celtics before Kevin Garnett strangled him to death for thoughtless and/or selfish play.

Having said that, if Ricky could somehow mature as a player, he can put the ball in the hole. But that's probably wishful thinking.

A player like Jerry Stackhouse performs the same role and is less of a risk, although I'm no fan of Stackhouse either.

Ronnie Brewer anyone?  Now there's a FA guard worth pursuing.  He plays the right way, he's young, and he probably wouldn't be that expensive.

I was one of Ricky's biggest fans when he was here but not sure he is what we are looking for right now.

I'd welcome stackhouse (if he has enough gas left) or Brewer to the team.  I think Tony needs to go away no matter what so if we can trade him for either guys (or someone else) like this great.
