Man I long for the days when these kind of announcements were the real deal and permanent.  Like back in the good old days when Will Solomon was a Celtic...

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

There are referees that I dislike more than Violet.  Bennett for one and that guy Kennedy!
Days up and down they come, like rain on a conga drum, forget most, remember some, don't turn none away.   Townes Van Zandt

You guys are missing the point she's going to be head of referees for a league! How can you be in charge of officiating for an entire league when you don't know how to referee? That's like hiring Shaq as a free throw shooting coach.

one down, many, many more to go...

looks like we no longer have to worry about any more terrible calls from Violet Palmer...

ESPN.com news services
SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Violet Palmer will become coordinator of women's basketball officials for the West Coast Conference and continue to officiate in the NBA, where she has worked for 12 seasons.

Earlier, The Associated Press incorrectly reported that Palmer would no longer officiate NBA games.

Palmer became the first woman to officiate a major U.S. professional sport when she made her NBA debut on Oct. 31, 1997. She has spent the last 12 seasons in the NBA, and officiated four playoff games and more than 700 regular season games. She also worked in the CBA and WNBA.

Before working in pro basketball, Palmer spent nine seasons officiating in the women's college ranks. She worked five NCAA women's Final Fours, and officiated in the West Coast Conference, Pac-10, WAC, Big Sky and Big West.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

now if only Bavetta and Salvatore could "retire", then things might start moving in the right direction
