The Philadelphia 76ers will interview Boston Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau for their vacant head coaching position.

The interview was confirmed by a person familiar with the decision who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because an announcement has not been made. The date of the interview was not immediately known.

As if impending decisions on baby's future, rondo's extension, and potential free agent signings aren't enough, now we are faced with another major problem. While a part of me wants Thibs to be a head coach someday, the greedy me wants him to stay for another run next season. With the way this season ended, I just wanna see the same core of players and coaches come back next year and try to get #18. This team is too good to be a "one and done" affair. It should really be an interesting off season. Go celtics!

I think this notion is overrated. Sure Thibs is an asset to our team, but an assistant coach is way down on the list of what would put a dent in our title hopes. Houston is still a pretty good defensive team even though Thibs (and Van Gundy) left. I hope he gets a head coaching job...he has earned it.

Is it just me, or do Sixers look unimpressed with the coaches they've interviewed so far?

I think Thibs has got a real shot at that job. Hopefully, he gets it, I'd love to see him get a head coaching gig.

I don't know if TT is the best fit.  The Sixers are best when they're running and focused on transition.  I think the Sixers would be best with a coach who has the offensive knowledge to maximize that transition offense, while incorporating Elton Brand to a larger extent.

Defensively, the Sixers weren't terrible; they ranked 13th out of 30 teams in the league in terms of offensive efficiency.  It was offensively where they struggled more (19th).
