Anyone heard of Marcin GOrtat? He's a UFA next season. So is Adonal Foyle.

My worry with those 2: If they can't get minutes on the Magic, can they get minutes with us?

I'd rather role with the "ticket stub" Davis at the 5.

Isn't Bill Walker suposed to fill that roll next year? He seems pretty strong and fairly quick. I would hope that he's at least a desent backup 3 by next year.

any celtics depth chart that has bill walker backing up pierce will lead to the same situation we find ourselves now. pierce, last seasons finals MVP, has become so exhausted that his strengths have become weaknesses. His clutch endgame has become cringworthy.

 we need a long athletic 6th man who is a true threat on both sides of the ball.  I don't believe bill walker will be much further along then he is now. he will not be ready to fill that role.

with the limited financial wiggle room we have i think a solid way to fill both major needs would be to sign a long athletic forward to back up both the forward spots. by getting one player to spell both pierce and KG we may have enough money to land a younger up and comer. who, with rondo and perk, could become part of the post KG nucleus. we can offer that 6th man plenty of minutes at the 3 and 4, a chance to learn from the best and compete for a championship.

who's available who fits that bill?

does nocioni have the upside for us to take on his long(post KG) contract?
how could we wrestle gerald wallace away from charlotte?

can KG  mold a poor defender into a defensive force through sheer force of will? or could an atheltic swing with little defensive experience (hakim warrick) become a good defender with in out system?

i like marcin gortat's athleticism and aggressive play he could be a solid reserve, though i wouldn't sign him to more than a 1 year contract w/ team option on 2nd year.

I would love picking up Grant Hill, I think maybe drafting Tyler Smith for our future would be an excellent move, him learning under Paul and Grant... wow think of the possibilities. And we'd finally be deep at the small forward position. The only other thing I could think of is getting a solid back-up for Rondo. It's not Marbury or Pruitt and Eddie House should be Ray's back up at the 2 spot.  If we could somehow get C.J. Watson from Golden State for dirt cheap or trade Scal, TA and I don't know Danny Ainge's kitchen sink?

Big Marcin Gortat fan. I'm hoping some clever GM will offer him $15-20mil over five years and lock him up on a long term contract. Some team which needs a starting center, and will give him 30-35 minutes a night. It would be one of the smartest decisions of the summer.

Which leads us to Starbury and Mikki. It's probably not a secret that I'm kind of a Starbury apologist, so I'd love to keep him for another year, as long as it doesn't take all the MLE. And Mikki... well, I don't know if he's staying.

I would be shocked if Mikki is back, and I also would be surprised if Marbury is back.  I think he would only be back if he were willing to take the vet minimum...and I think he will want more.

I also agree that Pruitt is likely gone.

I would be very surprised if Powe is not on the roster though.  With his injury, he likely won't be getting many other offers, and as long as they project him to fully recover from the surgery, they will likely sign him up.  My guess is it will be a 1 year deal, with a team option for the second year, at very short money.

Camby would help, great rebounder/shot blocker...and a bit under rated...Grant Hill =is still an injury guy, isn't he...? Get Artest or Battier for D....Scal takes a big man slot but doesn't play big at all, and too much $$$, how much does he get paid..?

The NBA's future are Kobe and LBJ. I believe we should pick players that will either neutralize these guys or take on them squarely (these must be players who should be young, athletic and 6'8" or 6'9" tall).

T-Mac, Earl Clark ,Batum and/or Travis Outlaw are good choices. Plus if we could get Thabeet then we just assembled an awesome team.

How the heck is Kobe the NBA's future at 30 years old?  I never understood the people who kept saying with Bynum and Kobe the Lakers would be set for the next 10 years.  Hello!  Kobe is not 25 anymore.  He's about the same age as Pierce.

And T-Mac is cursed.  We'd never get out of the first round with him on this team.

Trade Tony Allen and Scals (Both expriing) for Leandro Barbosa

Sign and trade Glen Davis at roughly 17M/3 years after the draft to Toronto for Earl Clark's rights, and Jason Kapono (I know he doesn't have the best contract, ever. But it's only one more year after next season.)

Let Eddie walk if he wants, resign Marbury and Powe, throw Mikki Moore into a ditch.

Then sign Rasheed Wallace (Or Birdman) and Matt Barnes or Grant Hill in free agency.

And then we have a stacked bench, because face it; this team needs a little shake up, nothing too serious but this would certainly do, I think. Having Barbosa come off the bench gives Ray a lot of rest throughout the season, and an adequet backup for Pierce, along with bigs are essential next year.

I think a lot of who the Cs go after in the offseason depends on who DA can get in return for Scal+Tony's expiring contracts. 

-If Scal+Tony bring back a backup big man (eg: Jeff Foster), then the Cs fill the backup PG and backup SF spots with FAs (eg: Starbury and Matt Barnes, respectively).

- If Scal+Tony bring back a backup PG (eg: Barbosa), then the Cs fill the backup SF and PF/C spots with FAs (eg: Matt Barnes and McDyess, respectively).

-If Scal+Tony bring back a backup SF (eg: Posey), then the Cs fill the backup PG and backup bigman spots with FAs (eg: Starbury and McDyess, respectively).

Note that the above are examples, I am not necessarily advocating a particular player.
