Well, Perk has never been a good shooter.

except that one game against houston, but he did stay at a holiday inn express that night due to a booking mistake.

the Houston game was really good, but thats becuase they were using it to pull Yao away from the offensive boards, (it'd be good against Dwight, and Shaq as well. But for most occations we need Perk down low for OReb's otherwise both our big men are hanging out in the midrange out of position.

Kendrick Perkins should serve as an example to all who are quick to judge a player's aptitude for something without a decent sample size.

He is also a testament to how important it is to place value on the times a player does show some good footwork or touch on a move - as Perkins has displayed just about everything we've seen of him this year, just in less volume in past years.

Perkins has worked relentlessly on his body and his offensive moves, which are beginning to pay dividends.

He now has 2 stable moves offensively - the hook and the fall-away. His set jumper is much improved and will be used more and more as time goes on.

Many on this board stated that Perk would forever be an offensive liability and he is fast proving them wrong.

In time and with the proper role, Perkins may very well challenge for a spot on the All Star team...centers being a very limited commodity in the league overall.

By the time he's 28 and GPA are old and gray, he may be a go-to option on the block for this team - not the primary offensive weapon to be sure- but one that can reliably deliver double-digits on a nightly basis.

To me, his jumper doesn't have much arch/arc, one time I was like "did Perk just shoot a jumper?" and the commentators were saying how Perk can hit that shot when needed. (middle of season don't know what game) Turns out he had just hit one, and I was watching the game but didn't notice his shot go up; I thought he did a quick pass.

It went up and down into the net so quickly and silently.

I love the little fade away from straight on he can hit now.  Another beastly weapon.

I also love that little fade away in the lane. He's suprisingly accurate with it as well. I almost expect him to make it every time because he looks so comfortable with it.

It's like a little dagger shot. Like you said, a beastly move.

I've always beena huge Perk fan and a long, long. long time ago I said I felt Perkins would final settle in with the following numbers:

12-15 points per night
8-10 boards per night
2-3 blocks per night
These numnbers while being the defensive anchor in the paint.

I got skewered for the post. However, I still think this is where he'll settle and those numbers ( if he reaches them ) and combined with being the defensive anchor are worthy of all star appearance or two sometimes down the road.

I would argue he may never get the appearance though because he is all meat and potatoes, nothing to put on ESPN...

Well, Perk has never been a good shooter.

Perk had a monster offensive game in high school, averaging almost 30 points a game his senior year, apparently, from what I've heard, based around a fairly well-rounded arsenal of moves.

Yeah, being bigger than everybody else helps.
