Definitely.  I wish things weren't like this.  I wish I had a million dollars, I would just wipe this mess right out, and walk away from it. But I don't.  I'm just looking out for my personal future, that's all.  My sister knows about all this stuff my mom does...as my sister told me my mom did it to her, as well.  My mom took out charge cards with various companies/stores, ran the bills sky high & couldn't pay them.  Also, my sister, a few years ago tried to buy a brand new 04 Passat.  She couldn't get the loan because according to her credit report, she defaulted on a loan for 1999 Toyota Corolla a few years earlier...Yeah, by law, she did, but it was actually my mom...Used my sister's name, got a car, couldn't afford it, but who's credit got affected? My sister's.  She has since gotten all her financial mess straightened out, her husband co-signed that loan to get her that Passat, she just finished paying it off a few months ago.  So I think she knows that its not right, as she said to me yesterday "Why does she do this?"  We love our mom, she is very caring & I know she isn't a bad mother in terms of her personality and qualities.  But, I'm just trying to detach myself from as much of this stuff as possible, loans, any cards I have ties to, anything like that.

Well, your mother isn't alone. Many Americans have destroyed their financial reputation by not living within their means. A record setting amount of foreclosures can attest to that. The important thing is you detach yourself from the obligation and seek help for ma-dukes... Her best bet might be Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
