I saw this in the Bill Simmons trade value article, and I thought it deserved a thread of it's own.

Quote
Number of 23-and-under point guards in NBA history who started for consecutive 60-win teams: Zero.

While it's important not to get too excited by this, I find that remarkable. I wont lie though, I had a strange feeling that come playoff time that number will still be zero. If he pulls it off, it certainly is an incredible achievement.

So you don't think the Celtics will go at least 17-9 the rest of the way?  They're on pace for 65 wins right now.

I think they will, but I don't like to count my chickens, you know? Nothing is for certain.

I hear that, and to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised for the team to tail off a bit in the regular season and have everyone in the media jump off the bandwagon, only for them to tear through the playoffs on to #18.  8)

Incorrect. Death and taxes.

Along the same lines as Rondo's potential record, I heard (from I believe the Nets broadcasters earlier this year) that no team, until last year, has ever won the championship with a point guard and center 23 years old or under.

Give some credit to Perk and Rondo for sure. But really, it shows you just how great the Big Three have been.

In this era, only death is certain. Apparently tons of people don't pay taxes. They'll have to add that hrase to the anachronistic group.

Everyone pays taxes, its a matter of which taxes you end up avoiding. There are a lot of loopholes and avoidance shelters. Plus the number of people who just don't file properly.

In the end though everyone pays some taxes. Sales taxes for example most places.

Very OT though.

Not to diminish Rajon, but if the Celts finish with 60 wins, this "historic" achievement will not change my evaluation of him as a player (which is already very favorable), nor do I see it gaining him more national respect than he already has.

The game is getting younger and younger, even with the age rules in place.  Kevin Durant is putting up monster numbers...at age 20.

LeBron is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and he's 24.

And the list goes on...

Net: so what?  I have said to friends and family since RR's rookie year that he would be the best PG in the league.  He's well on his way.  Without getting into the PG flame war, I'd rather have him on this or any team than CP3.
God bless and good night!

I didn't mean OT as an insult or anything like that, just put in there to remind myself as much as everyone else that the topic should be Rajon. So we really shouldn't get into depth on it here.

I don't really put a ton into the whole consecutive 60 wins myself. Wins are compiled by a team, not a player. There have been PGs better when younger than Rondo. Rondo just came into a perfect situation, both with chemistry and with a team that has enough shooting to make up for his one major weakness. He has taken full advantage of it though and I really do think he'll be a winner through out his career.

True, the C's do quite well in an underdog role. I think they will have a stronger showing on the road this this year.

Back on topic: Rondo's feat is another reflection on how good this team has been, and continues to be. Go Celtics!

After last night's game and then checking the box score, I was thinking to post a new topic. Rajon was up against the best in the league last night and outplayed him. Consistently, he has done this all year whwn faced up agaist another premier point. Devin Harris was sat down by his coach even. Jemeer Nelson couldn't score for his life the last time we played Orlando. I really am loving him more and more. Remember when Kenny Anderson played here and we would get all excited about his 5-6 assists per game. Well, look what this kid can do. Ten assists or more for him is quite common.
