does anyone know if there was a protest of any sort from the Celtics for that game? if home court advantage comes down to one game, i will not be a very happy nba fan.

I am pretty sure the league office was called during the game.

Either way, I don't think that ended up being the play that determined the game.  As bad as the refs sucked, the C's simply did not play well enough to win.

If the Celtics lose out on HCA by one game, they need look no further than losing to the New York Knicks as a reason to make their stomachs turn.

I was at the game at the Garden when we beat the Knicks by 20, and I was upset that we only beat them by that much.  No matter what ESPN would like you to believe, the Knicks are a horrible basketball team, and for the Celtics to score only 88 points (35 in the second half) against that pathetic defense is horrible.

I'm not jumping off a cliff.  I still feel that the Celtics are the best team in the league, and maybe we were spoiled by the team giving 100% during pretty much every regular season game, but against a team like this, even a C effort would get the job done.  But we played with absolutely no intensity, and settled for threes against a team that couldn't stop a chair.

I don't really agree with this logic. You can play poorly and win. The point is, Portland didn't play so great either. The Eddie House airball 3 pointer was when the team was down 3. That would've only been 1 had the refs not botched the play at the end of the first half.

This game should be protested.

But what about the bad calls that went the Celtics way?

Yeah, the 6 men on the floor thing was terrible, and should have been immediately overturned, but any team that blames a loss on one bad call (especially in the first half) doesn't deserve to win.

Some bad calls are more flagrant than others, but in general, they ussually even out between the teams.

This wasn't a case of a bad call which is subjective. This is a case where an actual technical mistake was made. It's the same as if they had failed to stop the clock and time ran out at the half before a team had a chance to score.

In a close game, small point differentials absolutely can change the outcome of the game. (eddie house heaving a three versus driving to the basket for two).

We can't beat every team by 10 points to offset poor officiating.

They should absolutely have protested this game.

the problem with that is the celtics did give at least a "c" effort, and the knicks defense bothered our guys, and maybe caught them a little off guard
