I don't really care what they do, as long as they don't touch the primary cap and primary home jersey.
We all know that this is what teams have to do from time to time for business reasons (merchandise sales). That's why even our sacred Sox aren't immune to change. In the end, tradition will always give way to money.
You do have to give the ownership some leeway for things like this. I mean, they could have easily abandoned Fenway and built a huge new stadium that seated 55,000 comfortably. They know that their fans appreaciate traditon, and so do they.
