Very bad decision in my opinion.  What exactly has he had to work with since last year?  A team of mostly average talent and a best player who rarely plays.  They overachieved last season in my eyes and are performing as expected this year... that is a sign of at least 'good' coaching in my mind.  This is the most "win now" environment I can remember.

I liked Theus. Of the coaches fired this year, I think this has been the only mistake.

The firing was a mistake, but so was the hiring.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
garbage move. They traded Ron Artest, a marquee player in the league and expected to win MORE games? Duh.

Hey didn't he win 2 state tittles with that team? I mean it was on a 50 foot court with 7 foot rims but still. ;D

Please move them to KC.  Then I'd only have to drive 2 1/2 hours to watch an NBDL team instead of the 500 miles I have to drive to OKC to see the other NBDL team now.

Bad year for black head coaches in the NBA.

They would be a formidable opponent for any team.

I'm amazed he was able to have an upper level team with nobody bigger than 6 foot. That's remarkable for High School ball as that would cause problems for a Jr High team.  ;D

This whole coaching carosel is a joke. When do we get to fire owners for incompetence. I have not paid great attention to Sacramento, but if the players have quit on the coach, then he needs to go. However, as a coach it is amazing how much smarter you are when you have better players. I have coached very good teams and very bad teams, and the main difference is that the players were better on the better teams. I am willing to admit that I had little to do with it. I coached in basically the same way.

I totally agree that the coach needs to take responsibility for what goes on. But, isn't changing the coach, marching out the same marginal players, and finally expecting different results a bit insane? Every team that has fired it's coach so far have either made major personel moves or simply has poor talent. It takes time and consistency to develop both situations.

A dumb move from the Kings owners.  Reggie is a good coach, but with a bunch of role players he's not going to win many games.  Of course I thought Reggie should have stayed to coaching college basketball.  No doubt that's where he'll be next season.

Theus had a lot of problems in Sacramento last season despite their overachieving record. Not a black and white decision, it's in grey area.

The interference from ownership seems to be the biggest reason for struggles in that locker room. They sabotaged their own coach.
