I just read this story. Not too much new in there, but the Celtics are named specifically as one of the teams who may consider Stephon.

"I'm just surprised he wasn't whining about the foul calls." - Glen "Doc" Rivers (6-11-08)

Indeed, that would be unfortunate.

Thanks for posting the link though.

He hasn't even been bought out yet or waived.   We'll see what happens.   But my instinct tells me he would rather play for a 5+ mil in Europe than take the minimum from Miami or LA.    He already said a while ago that when his contract ended in NY he would go play ball in Italy.

I mean they've been talking about this guy getting bought out for months now.  I'll believe it when I see it.   Walsh is denying it.

dmorrison22, it says that he is reporting to camp in those real gm articles, but that there is a good chance he is going to be bought out and released.

I would like to see Marbury invited to camp for one reason and one reason only...so Brian Scalabrine can make a youtube parody video of this gem:

"Did anybody see what Danny pulled off for the Boston Celtics?"

"Yes sir."

By no means am I pining for Stephon to don green, nor am I really convinced he'll ever get bought out; however, if he gets bought out, rolling the dice on him is a luxury that a champion like the Celtics can afford.  Signing him to a minimum deal has about as much risk as the Sox signing Bartolo Colon.  If he produces, great; if not, cut him.

With a leader like KG, plus PP and RA around, a trial run of Marbury would not destroy this team.

I hope he doesn't come here.

Great talent, to much locker room killing luggage.

  • 36 charges and counting..
First thing is he would have to be bought and then signed for minimum

Second thing is he would have no impact in the locker room since the team is run by vets and if he brought Starbury with him he would be cut in nanosecond.

Third thing is he would be about 10x better than Sam.

Fourth thing is I doubt very seriously he would only sign for the minimum.

And I would like to add:  No.  No.  No.  No.  No.  Please do not infect something I love so much with THAT.  Let him take his remaining years overseas.  Italy, wasn't it?
