Be very interesting to see how he does away from GSW. I have my doubts about how he easy he is to fit into one's team, especially with Diaw already in Phoenix and taking up those combo forward minutes (Robin Lopez backup center).

Suns should have signed a true wing like Mo Evans. This will likely come back to haunt them.

Apparently we were never targetting Barnes seriously, since he's only signing a 1-year, vet minimum contract.

Good deal, then. Barnes doesn't deserve more than the vet minimum.

Maybe, but I can't imagine that Tony Allen is worth three times more than he is.

Agree. Tony is the better player, but not by such a margin. He's being overpaid, I think. Why haven't we offered him the QO, btw? If he signed for $2.5 million, doesn't make much sense. To save $400.000?

Tony fills a much stronger need - a defensive wing.

Fills a much stronger need than who? My point is that we could have kept him with the QO. And he's a defensive guard, not a defensive wing, IMO. Too undersized.

I think you're going to be disappointed then. I thought Ainge made it pretty clear that he wasn't going to sign a big name free agent to replace Posey - he's going to replace Posey with little pieces here and there. Tony Allen is going to have to step up a little more this year. House too.

He went to a team where he could fit when they go small and run.

I am not sad at all to see the Celtics miss out on him.  He had one really good season for a reserve PF in a small offense.  There is no real spot for him on the Celtics unless he is taking the back PF spot from Powe and Davis.

Perfect fit for both team and player.

barnes will thrive in the fast paced system (very similar style of play PHX and GS) and will get a ton of open looks from 3.

if steve nash can make a decent player out of gordan girichik he will certainly make good use of matt barnes, as well as a highly sought after free agent when he's up again.
