If the Clippers get him, who do the Hawks go after with all the money?

That's an easy one...Andre Iguodala  :P

Good. Get him out of East.. He gave us too much problem in the post season. Too good of shot blocker at SF position. Hard to get a lay up on him, just ask Rondo

Another SF?

Makes perfect sense with the Hawks style of drafting players.   ;D

Maybe they can go for Deng?

no one except re-signing Josh Childress.  they will be awful and then add a high draft pick (maybe a potential franchise center like BJ Mullens to pair with Horford), have bibby come off the books, and essentially be about 30-40 million under the cap so they can pursue multiple high profile guys coming available next summer.  I know they want to keep Smith, but the Hawks will not overpay to keep him, and they would position themselves beautifully for the following summer if he did leave.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I think this is great.

how often do you get to see a bidding war between the Clippers and Hawks?

Really makes me question how good of a player Smith can become.

I like the theory, but when put into practice the Hawks would essentially kill off the suprising support and fan base that they were able to generate within a short amount of time at the end of last season.  Perhaps they could recapture that enthusiasm if all went according to your plan, but if they didn't hit it big in the lotto and couldnt land a top-flight free agent they'd be playing in an empty arena again while Smith becomes a star in another town.

Atlanta will match. The Hawks have no choice.  And the Clippers know it, too.

Which means the Clippers will likely offer him way more than hes worth to try and pry him free.

Free Agency is fun.
