Ugh. So much for wanting a ring. So with Pietrus going to Orlando and Maggette going after dollar signs I feel as if we're now obligated to give Pose that 5 year deal. ugh.

and we really arent...AT ALL. and i dont think its gonna happen. i dont see danny flinching at all and he shouldnt.

Well scratch Maggette to Boston.  I guess this move makes sense for him.  He's going to get starter minutes and better money.  In Boston he would have played second fiddle/backup to PP/Allen and gotten no more than the MLE.

And gotten the chance to play for a title.  Enjoy mediocrity, Corey!  8)

Does Posey become even more of a priority with the free agent pool shrinking?

I'm with you on that sentiment -- I think he's likely plans A, B and C at this point.  The problem is that I'm a bit scared by the possibility of needing to go to Option C if those first "three" ideas don't work out.

Quinton Ross...James Jones?

CelticBalla32 has spent the evening talking me into James Jones if all else fails...and to his credit, I'm starting to buy in.  Ross is an excellent defender, but the team would need to add another scorer to the second unit, because Q really provides little in that department.

It's either give Posey what he wants or have a mediocre bench, really. Unless... Is Bonzi Wells a free agent? If not getting Pose back, Wells would be far from a terrible option.

was the Celtics pursuit of Maggette seen as an insult or slight to James Posey ?

If the Celtics offered Posey the full MLE @ 4 years - would he accept that or is Posey looking for even more $$$ ??

Have the Celts made a formal offer proposal to Posey - if so, what was it .........  and should Ainge have gotten out front on this situation and offered Posey a lucrative deal @ 4 years to begin with to make him feel appreciated and to curb his interest in other places ?

don't Pierce , KG and other Celtics have some ability to sway Posey to stay in Boston and win more titles ?
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

From what I've heard the original offer was just the 3-year deal with the 30 or whatever percent pay increase without using the MLE. He obviously didn't want that and allegedly he has multiple 5-year offers from teams like New Orleans and LA.

He wasn't going to leave that money on the table.  Sorry, but it was unrealistic to think he might.

hows that line of thinking any different than last year when people said we were gonna have a mediocre bench...and that was before and AFTER we signed posey. one guy does not an entire bench make or break.

Alright, we lost out on Maggette and Pietrus, but Posey is not walking through that door again. Danny won't make any panic moves, because there are still some very nice role players in Matt Barnes, James Jones, Quinton Ross and Maurice Evans who could be had for much less than Posey and would come very close to his "production".

Jones is gone, I think, to Miami. Concern I would have had with him is erratic offense. And Ross has no offense.

Otherwise, I agree. It's time to quit fretting about a couple of million dollars. The alternative may be resigning Tony Allen and watching him elevate the mental mistake to new and incredible levels never seen before in the NBA. I think Garnett would probably have an aneurysm having to play meaningful minutes alongside a turnover machine like Tony.
