The Rocky Mountain Revue will be held July 18-25 at Salt Lake Community College's Lifetime Activities Center.

Eight teams — two more than originally announced — will take part in the 17-game event, though two do not directly represent NBA franchises.

One will be an All-Star team from the NBA Development League. It will play three games.

The other is the Iranian team that qualified for the upcoming Summer Olympics in China by winning last year's FIBA Asia Championship in Japan...

Its national team will be playing in its first Olympic men's basketball tourney since 1948.

The Iranians will be in the opposite group of Team USA in Beijing, and they feature 7-foot-5 center Jaber Rouzbahani — who made himself eligible for, but went unselected in, the 2004 NBA Draft.

The Jazz-Iran game will be played at 7 p.m. on July 21. Iran will play one other Revue game, against Dallas on July 19.

The NBA teams participating: Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, New Jersey Nets, Utah Jazz, and San Antonio Spurs.

I applaud the inclusion; as well as the - less significant but equally entertaining - inclusion of the D-League Ambassadors. Chalk one up for the Revue over NBA's larger Las Vegas Summer League.

Here's the complete schedule.

the real news is the all-star NBADL team playing, if that were legit (all the guys who really played in the league) they'd kill in the league I think - but I'm sure a lot of the top NBADL guys are with other teams now trying to catch on...

Wasn't there some huge center out of Iran a few years ago? A young prospect. Be interesting to see him play if he's on the team.

Edit: Thanks Walker Wiggle, missed that. Good, look forward to seeing him play. Also missed that it was the Rocky Mountain Revue (just saw summer league) and not Vegas. Head isn't glued on today. At least folk in Utah will see Rouzbahani and co .... Ah well. I join you in your applause of Utah's efforts at keeping a summer league alive and exciting for their fans.

Actually, included at the end of my original post - 7'5" Jaber Rouzbahani, went undrafted in 2004.

I'd love to see them participate in the Rocky Mt. Review with a full slate of games.
