If I understood correctly a couple of days ago, someone mentioned that the Celtics won't have a SL team this summer? Is this true?

I really don't see why not do it. You can give Big Baby a bit of run, Pruitt, whomever we draft, and surely a few invitees to see if we find someone to sign for cheap.

From what I understand, it is a big financial burden (with little to no payoff), and they simply wouldn't get that much out of it.

Supposedly they are going to be having their own Free Agent camp or something.  I wouldn't be surprised if some of the young guys end up playing at that too.

we should enter a Celticsblog team in one of the summer leagues then, I'm sure with Roy in the post, Edgar taking flops, Redz from outside, myself playing lockdown D, Chris with the behind the back passes, and of course Bud providing refreshments after the game, we'd be the best team under 6'0 there....

That makes sense. You know how much of a financial burden it is by any chance?

Bryan Colangelo said it would cost the Raptors 250k to put a team through Summer League last year. Since the Raps had no picks he felt his team/ownership weren't getting value for their buck and decided not to send them.

I had heard it cost that much just as a fee to participate...but then there is all of the overhead involved (flights, hotel rooms, per diems, etc. etc.), and that stuff can add up quickly.

But I think the bottom line is just that they don't think they would get much out of it.

Can I take a summer without summer league. The withdraw symptoms are kicking in again. The mock drafts are not helping. The draft will be interesting; but the C's seem to have decided that free agency is the way to go. At least draft a Big man to back up Perk . So we have something to talk about (remember how much time we spent discussing Batista). Is going to be a long, long summer. Guess it is the price you pay for #17! I guess I can live with that.
