What is the game plan again?

After the 1st quarter Doc said, I'm paraphrasing, "We can live with Kobe scoring, it's the other guys that we don't want to have big games".

This confused me because the game plan for the first two games seemed to be the exact opposite, stop Kobe and make the other players beat you.
