Last chance for me to use this line for a while:

Leon made Motown POWE-TOWN

Also worthy of mention:  the Celts are 2-0 when Scal dresses.  Coincidence?

I THINK NOT
Yup

OK, I am going to get crap for this, but I have to say that although I was the biggest proponent of benching Powe against Detroit...this was the situation against them that I saw him excelling in (as I said in another thread).

The C's already had Detroit's defense on its heals.  They were not rotating the way they normally do, and they weren't protecting the rim like they did for much of the series.  That is when Powe is at his best.  He can use his quickness to sneak the ball up, and continue to attack and keep the defense retreating with his aggressive play.

I stand by my assertions that in some of the previous games, when Detroits defense was controlling the energy of the game, he would have been more of a liability.  But he did a great job last night.

I also think that he is going to have a huge series against LA, who are not as aggressive protecting the basket, and who don't move the ball nearly as well on offense.

So bash away.

Leon Powe Plays Defense -- Celtics Win
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Powe Rules.  Let's not forget that he along with Pierce are both from Oaktown so expect him to play big if he gets minutes.
Truuuuuuuuuth!

I won't bash but support what you're saying. Listen, if Powe comes to play he should play... there's no doubt about that in my mind, but he needs to show up. Plenty of chances he has been given during the playoffs, only to dissapoint for the most part. He'll get the same chance early in the Lakers series, just how Doc has given him in every series during the playoffs, but he needs to show up and earn his minutes. He's a second year player, not as consistent, there's no reason to have patience with him when we're trying to win a championship.

Even though I liked how he played last night, I would still like to see him hustle a bit more in the defensive boards. I don't know why, but he has been completely beaten by the opponents as it regards rebounding. I don't know if this is a consequence of inexperience, of simply being overmatched because better players are constantly on the floor, or just a lack of energy he brought earlier in the season. I just don't know. No matter what, he'll probably get short minutes regardless (unless he's having an outstanding game) and it's up to him to make the best out of those minutes. None of that "he can only produce when he gets big minutes" crap, he needs to produce and play smart in the limited playing time he'll get and he needs to make the most of it. All I ask, and all Doc has asked is consistency, and so far no one has earned their minutes during the playoffs other than Posey and PJ. I assure you that Doc would love to play Powe in a more consistent basis, but Powe hasn't played consistently decent at the least to warrant it.
