The story hasn't appeared anywhere else yet but ESPN was reporting that Carlisle was the front runner.

Quote
Carlisle has quickly established himself as the likely successor to Avery Johnson after being flown to Dallas for a second interview, according to NBA coaching sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that Carlisle met with Mavericks president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson on Thursday in Indianapolis and then traveled to Texas on Friday to meet directly with Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. As part of Friday's agenda, sources said, Carlisle also had an introductory meeting with Mavs franchise forward Dirk Nowitzki.

Multiple sources close to the process have described Carlisle as the Mavs' clear-cut No. 1 candidate, indicating that contract negotiations are already underway.

Well Jason Kidd just made his last decision as an NBA player

Carlisle is the most controlling coach in the league.

Brilliant though, excellent offensively and good defensively. He'll get everything out of that team that they have to offer.

Besides Kidd is the only player on the roster who's a good decision maker, they're better off being told what to do.

I like Carlisle but I don't think he's a good fit for the Mavs. He's too hands on just like Johnson. That offense just needs to be set loose. I think he'll improve them on defense but t I think he'll slow it down too much for this team to really go anywhere.

Great! This means Carlisle won't be commentating games anymore.
