Not sure I like the defensive scheme on Banchero. Why are White and Holiday the primary defenders?

Stopping Banchero isn't the goal, though.  If Banchero and Wagner continue to account for two-thirds of their scoring output, then we'll likely sweep the series comfortably.

I'll happily let those two have their individual scoring numbers if we keep holding the Magic under 90 as a team.

Yeah, if the Magic's offense is Banchero mid-range jumpshots, they may not break 90 this series.

Banchero was 4-7 from 3pt.

Ok - In the second half when they only scored 37 points, he took a lot of mid-range jumpshots. He made some, but those were the only real looks the Magic were getting.

If that's the case, they may not break 90 this series.

They do need to fix that a bit but in the second half it did feel like they adjusted. They chased Wagner and Banchero off the 3 point line and forced them into mid ranges. With a double digit lead they did not mind trading baskets.

In the first half though Banchero had some wide open 3s and nailed them.

Solid win.

White's shot is one of the prettiest in the league.

Good win.  Gonna be a bruising series though.  Already dinged Pritchard and Tatum and we're only done with one game.

That was the thing I was worried about with this matchup.  I don't think Orlando can beat us in seven games, but they can definitely beat us up.

At least this is a good series to face a good defensive team that tries to be more physical than their opponent.  That said I agree it's going to leave a mark.  I'm still unhappy about Anthony's intentional knee into PP.  I wouldn't mind someone sending him a message.  Like a McHale Rambis kinda message.

Unfortunately we don't have that type of mentality on this finesse team.

It really is - perfect release with the backspin you need and a beautiful arc.

Remember when several fans wanted to trade White and Pritchard a couple of seasons back ?

I don't believe Orlando will shoot the 3 as well as they did in game 2. I also do not think Banchero will be as good as he was in game 1. If Orlando was going to steal a game it was game 1 esp with the BS officiating.

JT was not good scoring and KP was a no show. He also was manhandled which seems to be the Magic's plan.

Boston really did not play all the well and won by 17.

Paolo Banchero, in Game 1, when defended by ...

Jrue Holiday: 0 PTS, 0-4 FG, 1 TO
Everyone else: 36 PTS, 14-23 FG, 3 TO

NBA tracking had Holiday holding Magic players to 5 PTS, 2-10 FG. Franz vs. Jrue: 2 PTS, 1-3 FG, 2 TO.

I hope Joe scraps the double big for now on in this series. Each team he rolled that out Orlando made a run.

As they said in the broadcast, no one comes close to what the Celtics have in the 4-8 roster spots.  Orlando really gummed things up nicely for Tatum, Brown and KP but White & Pritchard killed them with open 3's.

Tatum, Brown and Zinger always struggle with teams this physical.  The grabbing and holding alone would slow anyone down.  I understand playoff basketball is more physical but you shold still not be able to grab guys with both hands, bear hug them and stop their ability to cut and drive.  The C's adjusted and got more physical in the second half but the refs let Orlando take their physicality to a whole new level.  The Derek White drive where he stopped on a dime got hit from behind no call was just an example of horrible no calls.  If it's like this here what is the game going to look like in Orlando?

I'm calling it now. Porzingis goes beast mode in Game 2. 25+ points and hitting like 5+ 3s

I think the Jays wake up more in the road games
