Looks like Boucher is staying in Toronto. He would have been the most interesting in that list.

Yeah actually I was going to reply to Liam, Chris Boucher is available?

If so I'd love to nab him, but it seems like Toronto will keep him.

These are some guys that could had:

Chris Boucher

Larry Nance Jr.

Tre Jones

Theis

Javonte Green

Cam Reddish

Monte Morris

Seth Curry

Marvin Bagley III

I doubt they would add a new variable to the lineup that would have to develop chemistry with the rest of the team, and that they wouldn't be able to promise minutes to, given they just signed Torrey Craig and he's probably going to just be insurance at this point. I'm guessing if someone is bought out they kind of want to play, not ride the pine. Is there anyone out there who might be better than Peterson, given Peterson has an advantage of having been in the setup for a couple of years now?

I feel like Brad will keep it open till the last possible minute just in case a need opens up due to injury.

I see no need to fill the 15th slot.

It could be useful to think of in terms of getting a look at or head start for a player that may be more helpful in the future. Get a player acclimated to the team for next year.

Right.  It also gives us a chance to sign that player to a three year deal next season, controlling costs.

I think if it happens, other than a 2-way getting "brought up" it will be because they feel the player has some value beyond this season, as Roy says.  I think that was the idea with Springer.  He was a player with some promise that they would have some control over moving forward.  Springer had nothing to do with helping the team last season.  Springer didn't work out, but it seems that was the idea.

If we get so many injuries that some buy out actually has to play, we are in big trouble.  If you count Craig, we are 11 deep with players who are better than any buy out we could bring in (better than anyone on the list).  Our top 8 plus Kornet, Craig, Queta.  We could probably find someone more useful than Tillman but is that really worth it?  Again, I don't see them doing it for a player for just the rest of the season.  But if there is someone who could be our 12th guy this season and have some ceiling or potential moving forward, that would make sense.  No guarantee it doesn't turn out to be another Springer, but you have to take some swings.

Anyone they sign now isn't going to play. Craig was a great pick-up because there actually was a need for another wing on the bench. His role is going to be limited but I think he will have a role. There's no opening in the rotation for another player so it would be signing someone to practice with.

I would say that even for Torrey Craig, they only signed him for the rest of the season, he likely will some role this season, albeit small, but they are likely looking to next season and beyond for him as well.  There is usually a better chance of resigning someone than to have to go out on the open market.

This is all part of why he is a good signing.  A little bit of the best of both worlds.  He is expected to be good enough to have some small role this season but also maybe can stick around for a couple of seasons and play a role at a low cost.

Me too, but perhaps Craig ends up being a bit better fit. More experience and a little bigger so he can play the 3/4 like Hauser.
