Legend indeed.  One of his greatest traits was his ability to not take things too seriously, and to poke fun of himself.  His role in Major League was one of the great side performances in sports movie history.

Ueker was a regular on Carson back in the day, and he was funny as heck. Deadpan, self-deprecating, a great guest.  I bet Johnny loved him.  I was always psyched when Johnny announced he?d be on in the monologue.

Uecker: I was called into the Manager's office and was told I had just been traded...
I said, I have 2 questions...One,who did we get for me?...and Two, Did it help the team?

Manager replied, We didn't get anyone for you and Yes it helped the team.
